    Only if they pay the taxpayers back once they start making a lot of money. The taxpayers shouldn't be forced to support anybody. The olympics are useless. Go suck somewhere else other than the taxpayer teat.

    I don't think the Olympics are useless. Look at some of the US fighters who have gone on to become multi million dollar making superstars like:

    Floyd Mayweather
    Oscar De La Hoya
    Evander Holyfield
    Roy Jones Junior
    Muhammad Ali
    Joe Frazier
    Geroge Foreman

    The list could go on and on. The amateur career for boxers is an absolutely vital part of the learning process and if you are good enough to make it to the Olympics then you should have a great pro career, earn lots of money and pay any money invested in your amateur boxing back into the system time and time again in taxes.
