Barrera was such a great fighter that he knew how to turn his losses into a win by actually learning from them and tremendously improving afterwards.

I remember Barrera as the greatest. He could do it all
He came back from Jones defeat and should have got the return . He twice avenged the Morales defeat but I dont think he should have lost the 1st one anyway . Not Only did he take Eriks zero but he dominated another undefeated p4p superstar in Naseem Hamed . Who else beats unbeaten superstars like Barrera did ? The Marquez fight could have gone Barreras way if justice prevailed and in the Pac rematch Barrera showed he could cruise through 12 rounds without ever being troubled even though he was past his best.
He had thrillers with Kenndey Mckinney and was in the best fight ever vs Morales. He punched both those guys in the face pre fight to add a little spice so the man was a master who knew what he was doing
Very inteligent, trained to be a lawyer, played for Mexicos second division soccer team, then he was part of the fastest rising promotional company, he had a longer shelf life at the top than any of his rivals and has been described by over seas impartial media as " unbeatable"
The man was amazing and Im gutted I never got to see him when he came over to England to destroy Paul Lloyd inside a round
Marco Antonio Barrera
the greatest of them all

marco was one of my all time faves.
i, too, believed hes 3-0 to morales
i remembered the mckinney fight as the fight that sealed marcos distinction as an exciting superstar. both of them hit the canvass before marco finally punctuated the brawl by koing mckinney in the final round.
of course, theres the salud bout before the hamed fight, in which he showed tremendous improvements in his defense, footworks and overall skills.
the guy was a master craftsman. hes one of the most complete fighters ive ever seen. he can shift comfortably between styles and he can defeat foes by either picking his place in the ring or by engaging them in a toe to toe battle.
Barrera is one of my all time favorite fighters!! I can't tell you how many times I have watched his wars with Morales, and his brilliance against Hamed. He is one of the smartest boxers in, and outside of the ring.
Honestly, I'm glad that he broke up his partnership with Golden Boy. The guy is smart as hell, and doesn't need them. He can become of great promoter on his own.
It's funny that this was brought up, I was just thinking the other day, that I need to pull out his career set, and do a marathon of his fights.![]()
It doesnt get much better than Barrera. He was involved in so many great fights and showed a genuine ability to adapt his game as his career evolved. From a top level brawler to a boxer with almost every trick in the book. A very special fighter.
1 of the best featherweights in our time and he fought the best of the best.
Marco....
As eloquent and intelligent man outside of the ring as he was a fighter within the ropes.
In his youth he was a lion, his fights as tactical as an urban dirve by shooting.
As he matured he became a sosphisticated general of the ring, constantly calculating.....which punches to throw, when to defend, when to expend energy and ultimately, when to finish.
His career portrays the perfect evolution of a fighter....originating as a firecracker of a fighter he developed and matured into an expiereinced intellectual of the boxing ring. Yet he retained all of his fire, when provoked Marco was nevershy in returning fire, his lions heart meant he never backed from any opponent in his prime.
He was a great and I always mention his name alongside Salvador and perhaps above JC superstar.

Marco was an excellent fighter who fought the very best , and brought us many fantastic fights to enjoy.
For me Marco dominating and shutting the Arabian Prick Hamed up , was his defining moment although he was in more exciting fights.
His losses to Junior Jones proved that styles in boxing make fights.
Thanks for the memories Marco.
By knocking hell out of Naz.We all knew that Naz was far too cocky and such a smart arse.Even know Naz was always great to watch,"Maybe for all the wrong reasons!".It was kind of good to see him have dirt thrown back in his face and to have his arse kicked by a great fighter like Barrera was the icing on the cake
.A great hard,hard fighter.Thanks Baby-Face Assassin!!

I will always love Marco for the beatdown he gave Naz. Naz should never have left his corner shop.
MAB in his prime and at his best was one of the most versatile fighters ever. His presence and view of the ring was amazing.
A fighter that could adapt to any style and just dominate def. top 3 Super Bantams all time and most def. an ATG.
I learned to respect MAB late in his career, the rivalry between he and Erik blinded me and I never gave MAB the time of day. This doesn't mean I didn't know how great MAB was it just means my fanboyism never let me acknowledge it. Having been able to get a hold of 45 fights of MAB I've been able to see how this dude was like a mongoose and just beat opponents.
Crazy to think he announced his retirement after only wining his 1st title vs. Jimenez in 1995.
MAB embodied all the great points of warrior in the ring, technically brilliant always exciting he could lead, counter, blitz and defend and he did them all exceptionally. If you were going to pick the skills that you would want in a perfect fighter it is likely that MAB had those skills. He brought us a trilogy for the ages, and ducked noone. Very little negative to say about him.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
