Default Predictions for the rest of 2008

I wanted to get a predictions thread going for the remainder of the year's biggest fights and was wondering where everyone was at.

-Shane Mosley vs Ricardo Mayorga: Mayorga throws wild punches the first couple of rounds and Mosley weathers them. Mayorga gets discouraged, and Shane begins to pick him apart. MOSLEY TKO 8.

-Andre Berto vs Steve Forbes: I think Forbes gives Berto trouble early before Berto starts getting into his groove and I believe will actually stop Forbes. BERTO KO 10.

-Samuel Peter vs Vitali Klitschko: Ring rust affects Vitali and Peter gets him out of there early. PETER TKO 4.

-Antonio Tarver vs Chad Dawson: I actually have never seen Dawson fight so I'm not making a prediction here

-Kelly Pavlik vs Bernard Hopkins: Hopkins makes it ugly early. Clinching and roughing Kelly up on the inside. Midway through the fight, Bernard tires and Pavlik's workrate wins him rounds EASILY. PAVLIK UD. (Although I would like to see him knock Hopkins out)

-Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones Jr.: I don't know if it's wishful thinking but I feel Jones turns back the clock on this one. Alike with Trinidad, when Jones realizes Calzaghe can't hurt him, Jones starts pot shotting at will. When ever Joe comes in, Roy welcomes him with a straight right. JONES JR. UD.

-Jermain Taylor vs Jeff Lacy: I think Lacy gets outclassed here winning no more than 3 rounds. Taylor's jab keeps Lacy at bay ALL NIGHT! WIDE UD BY TAYLOR

-Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi: I honestly think this will be a hot and cold fight. Either Hatton or Malignaggi will be an obvious winner. If Cotto couldn't take Paulie out, then Hatton isn't either. HATTON UD.

-Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao: Honestly...I think De La Hoya carries Pac for 5 rounds and takes him out. De La Hoya KO 6.

i actually agree with all. oh and the tarver and dawson fight can only go by ud for dawson or tarver by ko. and ive seen tarver in the press conference and he seems pretty pissed about every body doubting him against dawson. at first i had faith in dawson but i dont know now. i still hope dawson wins.

-Shane Mosley vs Ricardo Mayorga: Mosley by mid-round TKO.

-Andre Berto vs Steve Forbes: Berto UD

    -Samuel Peter vs Vitali Klitschko:
I don't know why, but I think Vitali TKO's Peter early. The McCline fight really damaged my opinion of Peter.

-Antonio Tarver vs Chad Dawson: Dawson UD.

-Kelly Pavlik vs Bernard Hopkins: I think this is another case of the old boxer hanging on too long. Pavlik by KO/TKO as he retires Hopkins. That might just be wishful thinking though.

-Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones Jr.: Calzaghe by close-ish UD.

-Jermain Taylor vs Jeff Lacy: Taylor stops Lacy in the mid-rounds.

-Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi: Hatton UD.

-Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao: At first, I was sure ODH was going to stop Pac, but the more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards a Pac UD.

Here's a few of my own:

-Froch - Pascal: Froch stops Pascal, which will make me smile for days because I can't stand Pascal (can't stand Froch either though, so it's a win-win situation for me).

    -Molitor - Caballero:
Molitor UD's Caballero, setting up another unification bout in the future.

Mick, just wondering why you think Pac wins a UD against De La Hoya?

CFH, same question? McCline had a GOLDEN opportunity to put Peter away but he blew it! I just don't see Vitali doing so well considering he's been away from the ring for so long and if I'm correct, injury prone...

Like I've been saying since last year when ODLH mentioned a possible fight for him at 147 long before any opponents were named I said he'd loose.

ODLH could have fought Hatton at 147, Berto at 147, Williams.

I just feel that ODLH hasn't been a WW for many years, sure he'll make the weight but rest assured and keep this in mind.

ODLH will look like a corpse come the day of the weigh in. I don't care how much he can rehidrate come fight night. The damage will have been done by then.

Weight loss will be ODLHs biggest dismay, he's got bad legs and his stamina is also one of his weaknesses.

You have a point mick. Many good fighters made that mistake of losing so much weight and rehydrating fast and they got KOed in the fight. So if your theory applies to ODLH, there's a probability that he would get KOed by Pac. SAfest bet would be a UD for Pac and an SD for ODLH.

    -Shane Mosley vs Ricardo Mayorga:
    - I'll go for the sweet punching Mosley. UD or a late TKO.

    -Andre Berto vs Steve Forbes:
    - I'll go for Berto's power. Late TKO

    -Samuel Peter vs Vitali Klitschko:
    - Vitali's intelligence and power ( if his health is still okay) would prove too much for Peter. Vitali's straight right would be a factor here.TKO for Klitschko

    -Antonio Tarver vs Chad Dawson:
    - Tarver by SD if he comes in good shape.

    -Kelly Pavlik vs Bernard Hopkins:
There was a point in my life when I believed that Hopkins is unbeatable. Am having a hard time here coz I'm a fan of both. Pavlik by UD or late TKO.

-Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones Jr.:
    - Roy Jones by UD. Am still not convinced with Joe.

    -Jermain Taylor vs Jeff Lacy:
    - Taylor almost had Pavlik. Taylor by TKO.

    -Ricky Hatton vs Paulie Malignaggi:
    - A hard fight. I will give this to Hatton. Could be SD for Hatton.

-Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao: -My mind says ODLH but my heart will be cheering for Pacquaio.
