Thread: So when are we going to see Arthur Abraham - Kelly Pavlik?

This seems to be a fight that really is building up and now Pavlik has lost he needs a name to get himself back into the light again. The biggest potential fight that could happen at 160 is AA-KP and if it doesnt happen ill be very dissapointed. AA also needs a big name on his record and at 160 Pavlik is still a very big name.

I believe the fight would be very exciting, both men have exceptional power for the weight. AA defence I believe is a key asset he holds and he has shown recently his boxing ability on the front and back foot is good and combine that with his power was the reason why he stopped Miranda in four rounds in the last fight. KP also is a very strong come forward fighter, but I feel AA will be able to take his shots well because he has a very good chin and very tight defence when he is covering up. In saying that though, Pavliks punches can punch though peoples guards and although he couldnt do anything against Hopkins in terms of getting his shots off, I believe it would be very differernt against AA whos not as slick as Hopkins.

The fight to me makes sense for both men at the stages they are in their careers. Although AA has got to face Marquez, I believe he will beat him and then I hope they can sort out the fight with Pavlik. Both men need each I feel and I hope by early 09 we can see this fight happen

yea we should. maybe in the fall of 09 but not right away Pavlik should have atleast 2 more fights before fighting abraham

I agree with mid to late 2009 but I would like to see Abraham make his defense, then Kelly defend his title one more time, then BOOM! Abraham vs Pavlik!

I think Kelly need to knockout someone to get his confidence back. But we'll make the judgement after his next fight. He could very well need 2 fights to regroup himself over what just happened to him.

Well one thing Pavlik proved is that he has a solid chin and he needs to work on lateral movement.

Pavlik needs two fights and two good performances before he should even consider AA.

In the meantime, AA should fight the winner of the Sturm v. Sylvester match, which sets up a unification match with Pavlik in the Fall/Winter of 09'. This is all assuming, of course, he gets by Marquez.

Anyone else wondering how Sturm is steering clear of all this Abraham/Pavlik talk? Why isn't he all "what about me?!"

I actually dont think Sturm is going to get through the fight this weekend, I think hes going to lose. Either way AA should fight maybe the winner if a pavlik match up doesnt materalise

Get pavlik in with someone who can make him look good and get his career at 160 back on track...

let AA get marquez out of the way..

then hype the hell out of this one, stick these 2 up in vegas and watch them fight for the middleweight championship of the world sometime next summer!!

If Abraham is having as much trouble making weight for his last few fights as has been suggested, this fight might need to happen asap if it's to take place at 160.

I sure hope so...

I think it's possibly the most explosive fight that can be made since Cotto-Margarito.

Don't know, just can't wait to see it... as well as any potential match ups with the tWink and Paul Williams.

Arum claims the plan is to fight the WBC mandatory Rubio early in '09, then fight Abraham in the spring. Honestly, I think Pavlik should take at least two fights before Abraham to really get his confidence back. Even before the Hopkins fight, I favored Abraham in that matchup, even more so now. Pavlik has a few things to work on that one fight isn't going to do much to correct.
