Yes he could of i think he is possibly the most skilled British fighter who never won a world title. He was a master of the low hand style, he had an excellent jab, great reflexes, and quick hands its a shame what happened to him in his later life.

Yeh I think it was mate. Buncey did a documentary about him about 3 years ago where he trawled round the streets of Loondon looking for Kirland who was living as a tramp. He eventually found him and interviewed him - he was unrecognizable. He had a council flat in Peckham or somewhere, but chose to spend most of his time living rough. After filming the documentary he fell from the balcony of this block of flats, so when the end credits were playing they sad 'Sadly since the filming of this documentarty Kirkland Laing fell from his balcony and is now fighting for his life in hospital." We did have a poster on here that only posted once or twice who claimed to know Kirkland and said he had recovered. Hope so - real shame!! IMagine how good he could've been without the weed and booze
