    Default Curiosity Question

I maintain my stance that Floyd isint staying retired.. He said all along leading up to the Hatton fight that he was taking a year off to recover from all the promotional stuff, training, dancing with the stars etc...

My question is, if Pac beats Delahoya and looks good at 147, say Floyd comes out of retirement to fight Pac and beats him, does Floyd become PFP#1 again and how does a win over Pac being 40lbs over his original weight effect his legacy?

    1)Better for his legacy

2)Not really since Pac is smaller

If Floyd does return he should fight the top Welters, not Manny.

I think if he comes back he fights top Welters or goes to Light middleweight again but lets not forget Floyd also started off in the lower weights.

Honestly, I hope he stays retired.

I don't miss him one bit.

If Floyd does comeback he SHOULD be fighting top welters but he won't. A Pacquiao win over Oscar would mean a Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight would be possible. Mayweather is out there for the money and a fight against Manny would bring that.

If Oscar or Floyd beat Manny it would do nothing for their legacy IMO. For Christ's sake! Many was fighting at 130 in March! Oscar has been as high as middleweight and Floyd has been fighting at 147 for how long now? And he also fought Oscar at 154! It would have the same effect on their legacies that Roy Jones has on Calzaghe's. It looks sweet on paper but nothing more...

Of course Floyd Mayweather should get credit, all this BS about Manny Pacquiao starting off at this weight and that weight. Is ridiculous how much did you weigh at 16 and how much do you weigh now ? when i was 16 i was just about 10 stone now im 164 pounds comfortably.

Do you see the point im making here ? Manny Pacquiao is at his comfortable weight now. And he's fully grown into his weight now, compared to when he was obviously fighting at 16. And im pretty sure when he was fighing at Lightweight he was 146 pounds, so i don't think theres ridiculous amount of difference in the size now. Considering when Floyd Mayweather fought ODLH at Jr Middleweight, he was still only 150 pounds.

And Floyd Mayweather should for certain get credit for beating Manny Pacquaio, if Manny Pacquiao beats ODLH that is.

You know Floyd is AFRAID of Cotto and Margarito. Why the hell do you think Floyd G@yweather retired? Two of the badest Welters were standing in Floyds way. Floyd was so afraid of Tony and Cotto that Floyd opted to retire before the Cotto/Margarito fight because he knew that if he faced Oscar and won yet another boring azz split decision that everyone would have been DEMANDING that Floyd face the winner of Cotto/Margarito. If you ask me, Floyd did not want to fight either one. Floyd gave up MILLIONS in order to get his name as far away from that fight and we all know it. Now we have Tony Margarito calling out Oscar De La Hoya and Oscar is running like a little biatch too.

I go with #2 but if he does return and fights on a semi reg basis...EG 2 fights in 8 months he would regain his spot ASAP....Many guys have left for longer without stating they are retired and managed to hold status so why not PBF....

Truth is who is there for him?...

Right now Margarito and Williams...If he fights them and wins there really would not be anyone left worthy for his career to advance

Well, that's a very god question.

IMHO, I think he should be fighting the guys that are already there but...

    ...to answer.

Although Manny is fighting 40lbs above his original weight for the most part( minus JJM ) he hasn't been beating guys... He's been beating them up.

I think Pac would be a great mantle for his trophy case... Why not?

Pac would IMO be a tough fight for floyd after a layoff for sure but much like Calzaghe... I learned the hard way far to many times to EVER bet against the man.

I would love to see PBF vs. PAC...

The weight thing IMO, is void...

Fighters before used to rome through divisions fighting guys up to 3 divisions higher then them.
Need I mention Emile Griffith & Henry Armstrong?

Guys who fought opponents who were physically bigger then them and still won and held their own.

Not since JCC vs. Pernell have we seen #1 vs. #2, P4P...
I would be fucken dynamic to see that shit happen the premier P4P best fighters in the world fighting eachother.

A win in either direction would be fucken monumental.

We just witnessed #2 vs #3 when Pac fought Marquez. I even made a thread about it cause I thought that was a big deal. Hopefully Pac can pull the fight against Oscar off and eventually we can see #1 vs #2 when Pac and JMM fight again!

Hmmm... I'm not a Floyd fan but the "whiny, teary eyed wimp" has beat up some of the best fighters of our era... With style.

Granted he's been part of a few mismatches but who hasn't?

But seriously think about this ...
Which of the two affect your legacy more ....

    1) Fighting the big fights as perceived by the press and general public..

    OR

    2) Fighting the big fights as perceived by the boxing fraternity and the rankings..

I know which it should be .. but how often does it happen that way around..
