Gamboa won this IMO, entertaining fight though. Thought I'd whet the appetite for tomorrows FNF.

For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
A bit gutted here, noone replied to this amazing amateur fight, both guys were gold medalists too.

That was a sick fight, hadn't seen it before. Shame I'm probably not going to be able to watch Gamboa beat up Gonzalez![]()
I've watched that fight numerous times, and I am impressed with both fighters, Alexey is probably the best amateur, and was the best amateur in the Olympics. I felt Gamboa won it, and thats the fight that really makes me think, if Gamboa does have a great beard which he hasn't exactly shown, but if he does who can beat him? Even though his style is so reckless and forward, he is so slick, throws so many punches so quickly that I can't see anybody getting the upper hand on him, unless they can hurt him, and I also don't see him getting outboxed ala Hamed, he's a different level of unorthodox fighter, for all his short comings, he is amazingly accurate, for his style he avoids more punches than anyone else would be able to, and he hits hard.
I don't know if you meant to write beard, or if it's a boxing term I dunno about, but apart from that bit which I didn't understand, good post. I agree that Gamboa does have a lot of Naz about him, but he looks like he's building for fighting real top guys already & I would be surprised if he isn't a world champion by the end of the year. The only guy who I think would beat him, at present, is Chris John, but then he looks like he's never planning to fight outside Asia

if you do have a link sometime tommorow mornin, i would really appreciate it if you PM'd me it. Thanks
Jaz, he has been knocked down twice in the last 3 fights, he's been stunned at least twice on occasions he hasn't been down once against Jimenez and once against Ramirez right before he got him on the ropes and dropped him for the second and final time, but both of them going by their records aren't big punchers at all. I give Gamboa credit for making a B-line to them right afterwards, but I wonder what will happen if somebody like Juan Manuel Lopez hits him cleanly down the line. As for Gamboa vs Chris John, I see him beating Chris John and maybe even everybody at 126, but its not the strongest division, there are tough guys north and south of the division that could really cause him some trouble.
There are also Miguel Garcia, Carlos Velasquez coming up that might give him troubles, especially Carlos.
Beard means chin by the way, I am refering to how good his chin is.
All in all Gamboa might be the most exciting, most gifted fighter in boxing, but either he needs one hell of a chin or to change his style in order to get to the top, or at least to stay at the top.
I had never seen that before...
Top fight Sheep.
Thanks for posting.
That was a pretty even fight (without keeping score) I thought Alex landed the cleaner shots. Then again it's ams and it's scored different.
Which reminds me, I hate the way amateur fights are scored.
