Default John Duddy v. Matt Vanda

Duddy wins and he may fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. who recently beat Duddy's Saturday night opponent, Matt Vanda.

Does Duddy decidedly beat Vanda? Beat him in a controversial-yet-bloody decision? Lose?

Would Duddy beat Chavez Jr. if they were to meet in the ring?

Good questions, that should be an interesting fight. In addition to this one, we also see that Russian MW rising star - a good card.

Awesome thread my friend I see this as a new beginning, Duddy wanted that Verno fight and his team f'ed it up. According to Bob Arum this is a test kind of fight, if he looks good against vanda, he may get a Pavlik fight. If he has trouble they may match him against JCC jr. I'm looking for an impressive outing this time out.

Is this actually going to be televised in the US finally? I have never seen Duddy fight, but I think that they are doing well to bring him up a little sheltered. I still think he'll KO Vanda.

He has dropped off the mouths of fans after his tough bout with Walid Smichet. Don't count him out just yet though!

And, of what footage I have seen of him he could take JCC Jr, whom I have not been impressed with thus far. Didn't he have to fight Vanda twice?

Duddy is great to watch and all he wants to do is entertain..
He said as much to his cornermen in his last fight while looking like he'd gone face first through a car windscreen.

    Yes, JCC fought Vanda twice.

Duddy cuts easily and has porous defense, but that makes for a very watchable fight.

Before his last outing, he was being groomed as a fight for Pavlik, but his relatively poor showing took him out of the running. Duddy may be in the similar situation with a win on Saturday. A Duddy v. Pavlik fight in Youngstown or New York would make a lot of money at the gate and it would make sense for Pavlik to make a lot of money with a fight against Duddy before taking a risk in a fight against Sturm or Abraham.

Duddy should beat Vanda on points. Somewhere in the 7 rounds to 3 range.

Should be a very entertaining one. I really like Duddy, don't think he'll ever be on top of the middleweight pyramid, but he makes fights exciting.

This is another Walid Smichet fight for Duddy. If he wins and looks good he gets Pavlik, if he loses he's back to square one. If he can't look good against Vanda then realistically he's never going to be world level (and I don't think he ever will be, he just has to look like a plausible contender to get a Pavlik fight), so they'll put him in against similar level people who also have lots of support and make as much money as they can. JCC Junior is an obvious choice. A PPV superfight.
