    Default Since this is Ask The Trainer

    Anybody else hate the wind down week as much as I do? You know the week right before they fight,you want them to be in shape,but you dont want them pulling anything either or getting hurt in sparring? So all you can really do is hope for the best now.

    I dont fight, but if its anything like a back off week or rest week from working out i do. I hate to go half assed when im training.

    There are worse things. Last May I prepped like mad for a fight, my first good and proper training build up, fight in town, over a thousand people going to be there, all my family, friends, big venue, in an arena. Stopped training right on schedule, but got so nervous the night before I went for a bike ride that lasted 4 hours (stupid I know)...and still couldn't get rid of the energy and nerves. Ended up staying up all nite, only got maybe a few hours sleep on fight day. Still felt prepared tho..so off we go!

    Then opponent doesn't show up and it was all for not.

    I just hate this week because,if you hadnt thought of it before,there's nothing you can do now,you'll just screw up your fighters head.
    So you spend the week before a fight wracking your brain trying to figure out what youve missed.You probably havent,but to a degree thats your kid going in to the ring.
