Talking Why am I always so impressed with the shoe shine?

    Jones vs Sheika

I remember Ray Leonard doing shoe shines and I was always very impressed with it, even though sometimes there was nothing there as far as damage was concerned, but I always enjoyed fighters who did it.

I have to say RJJR looked very good against Sheika. That was the most entertaining fight of the week. After watching KlitCo, I was nearly put into a phuking coma.

PS. I have always liked fighters who clown around in the ring, it just makes the fight more entertaining to me and Jones did enough clowning to make the fight more enjoyable.
I hate to say this but I wanted to see more of this fight go on even though Omar was getting beat up from the first bell, I wanted to see more of RJJR's antics in the ring.

I also thought the fight should have gone on. With Jones being 40 years old and Sheika a proven durable guy I would have thought the ref would at least give him a chance to turn the fight around.

I guess they didn't want anything to spoil the Pensecola party however and Jones did look awesome in there.

I'm with you also regarding entertainment. I've not seen the Dunne Cordoba fight yet but the Jones fight was easily my favourite of the week.

Actually I always enjoy Roy's fights, I even watched his scrap with Hanshaw three times.

He's just an entertaining, smooth, classy fighter.

In fact I'd say he's very much like Mike Tyson in that he could retire from serious boxing and just fight in exhibitions and people would still want to watch those fights like when Tyson fought Corrie Sanders.

I used to watch Sheika lot in "USA" channel. He had devastating power and charisma.

I don't really like the shoe shine personally, I like more when guys sink into each punch at still throw combinations like Mike Tyson or Miguel Cotto. I don't see the point in the shoe-shine, I prefered when Roy would do his hot dogging and potshotting.

When I was a kid, the shoe shine was integral part of armature boxing. Now you rarely see it. (we always ended the shoe shine off with a big left hook)

How about bile-inducing trance? It was grim. The first three rounds were a paw contest; a disgrace to the heavyweight division.

Because Ali and Lennox Lewis never had contests that put you to sleep?

Danny_g can you show Roy's left hook to the head then the body, then his half step back and he comes back in with a right cross? That is the Roy Jones I love to watch.

Jones Jr looked alright against Sheika. He did exactly what he needed to do. And he really looked like he was having fun playing to the crowd.

But can we really appreciate what Calzaghe, Hopkins, and Roy have done? I mean I'm 21 and sometimes I don't feel motivated to train, these guys have been doign this stuff for like 30 years in the case of Roy and he still trains hard, looks in such good shape, and though Sheika definitely isn't a world beater, how many guys would Sheika even in the pro ranks beat the shit out of? The fact that Roy handles guys like Sheika so easily is amazing, most champions at LHW except maybe Chad Dawson wouldn't have been able to look so invincible against Sheika, sure they would have won, but guys like Glen Johnson would have been hit by Sheika.

Enzo used it, sort of, against Ola. He followed it by a right dig to the body.
