Default Why didnt floyd fight anybig name welterweights

I was wondering why floyd mayweather didnt fight sugar shane mosley, miguel cotto, winky wright, antonio margarito, paul williams, joshua clottey, carlos quintana? I no he fought some great fighters but they were mostly at featherweight and lightweight but to be p4p king when he was shouldnt he have fought a couple if not all of the list above?

Winky is huge compared to PBF. Winky was pressed to make 154.

When he did venture into welter it was a carefully chosen fight.
Kostya was screaming out for him at 140, 99% of fans wanted that fight both in their prime and he jumped right over him.

He went after leaving a mark on boxing history instead. Credit for Oscar at that stage though and Judahs always a decent risk. Had some balls going at Hatton afterwards too; it proves he knows his capabilities and his team study exactly who and when.
I recon he'll come out of retirement for Marquez for all the same reasons.
    Risk /reward.

Of course i would love for floyd to fight those guys, and you can say he's ducking them, but there is always another way to look at things..

he stepped up to welter, fought mitchell, then zab for the vacant title, then baldomir.. Then he had the chance to fight Oscar, which is what every boxer wanted/wants to do so that they can make some money.. After tasting the cash, no one else (besides possibly Cotto) would have been as marketable to fight other than Hatton. He fights Hatton, beats him, and retires. He had very few welterweight fights and didn't really care what weight class he was fighting in, just that he would fight the biggest names and make the most money.. You can hate on that philosophy, but he got paid. As i said, i would love to see him fight some of those names, but Floyd played the game, and exceeded very well at it. If you think outside of the box, outside of weight classes and what not, you can see that he did a pretty damn good job.

FLoyd's obsessed by money and not playing any risks, he has driven his career this way for a long time now and the only way he'll fight one of these guys is if there is plenty of money to make and not other "interesting" options around. Perhaps he'll fight Pacman, BUT only if he can make a lot of money. JMM? Forget it, too dangerous, not enough money, same for Moseley.

Think Pac would come closer to beating Floyd than any others at the moment Jmm next then Mosley not on size or at what weight; just talking styles here and Floyds way of disrupting other fighters and getting his own way over it.
I see Mosleys style as a bit easier for Floyds style to move into to.

Lil Floyd was a 130lber when he began, and to be fair to him he met all that mattered at 130 and 135. If the Tszyu fight had happened, with hindsight, he probably wins (although I would of figured Tszyu to win pre fight), and has been said the opposition he met at 147 were not natural Welters, Mayweather was clever like that.
