    Default Tattoos in foreign languages

Am i the only person that doesn't understand the point of it?
Woman at work was telling me her son has got his son's name tattoed on his arm in Japanese. My reaction was partridge like facial reaction followed by 'why didn't he just get in English?'
Fair enough question i thought. I'm only 23, it's not like i'm out of touch with the 'modern world' but fuck me sideways it has to be the dumbest, fakest thing in the whole world.
He's not Japanese, he's never been to Japan, he doesn't speak Japanese. Do Japanese people have their names tattoed on themselves in english? Sounds like a Danny Wallace style rant ( i hate him) it's jut something that really baffles me.
She responded with 'well it's fashion isn't it?'
On another note the receptionist at work had a baby and called it 'Nevaeh' because it's heaven backwards. What the hell is wrong with just calling it Heaven? I asked her if she was religous, she said no.....
Baffled. Please help me, i'm clearly missing something.

Probably some deep desire to feel cultured or something stupid like that. Or wanting to get attention and thinking people will come up to them and ask them what it says.....Pretty silly.

Though I will be having a massive backpiece done that will have some elvish written in it.....Will be doing a scene with the Doors of Durin outside the Mines of Moria and the door will have elvish script on it.....But I guess elvish isn't a real language so I'll be ok

I simply think a lot of people get tattoos now b/c it is "faddish" and also do not put a considerable amount of thought into what they are getting. I have 7 tatts and will probably add one more for my baby, but they all have a significance to me. I was glad when the chinese symbol fad stopped. I am confident many people have chinese symbols that do not mean what they think.

Best thing to do is ask; "why have you got "this white devil is a fool" written on your back in Chinese for?"

I have several tattoos and I hate it when people I don't know ask what they mean. I even annoys me when people I know well ask.

Got one tat, a dragon going up my right bicep. Why did i want it well coz the dragon was the only tat i wanted coz it looked awesome and they are strong bad ass creatures. No real meaning behind it. But the whole writing i think is because people think that it adds intrigue to it. If you had it in english then everyone would understand it but if its another language then you can be one of the few who understands it. I guess they see it as more interesting.
