Default will JMM-Floyd live up to the hype??

On paper it sounds like a fascinating contest. The warrior vs the technician, 2 established world greats in there own right.

But cant help but have this nagging feeling that floyd is gonna spoil whenever possible and look to do as little as possible in the 1st 6 and hope to pick marquez off in the later rounds. JMM on the other hand could become terribly frustrated by this and look to try and rough floyd up in order to get a trade off and things could become rather ugly for a good few rounds!

I dont envisage the diaz-marquez type war and can genuinely see potential flaws here...

    am i the only one??

yup. the prospect of watching two natural counterpunchers wouldn't be too high on anyones list. If they want a W they're going to have to engage and JMM has been doing more of that of late which has made his stock go through the roof. Could be a stinker could be good.

I don't see this fight as being a barn-burner.. How many PBF fights have you seen that are action packed?

Especially with Floyd taking time off, i see him starting extra late in this fight.. I see a long "feeling out" process, at least 3-4 rounds before Floyd will start to open up a bit.. With that said Marquez will NEED to win those rounds to have a chance in winning a decision. Floyd gets into a rhythm after he adapts to his opponent, and besides Castillo, and pieces of the DLH fight, no one has been really able to steal too many rounds after this happens..

The only way this fight will live up to the super competetive hype would be if marquez connects hard at some point.. giving floyd some sort of urgency to win rounds, but even then, i don't see floyd opening up to the point of desperation.. I'm still super excited for this fight and cannot wait to see Floyd back in the ring!!!!

This fight smells the controversy from here, the hype of a PBF and Pacman is way too high, I am really worried it'll play against JMM in the judges mind. At least, Bad Bob Arum's not behind Floyd anymore and Goldenboy is straight behind JMM, so it might edge that possibility a bit but I deeply worry that the hype of a huge PPV screw something.

I think it will, jmm is a great fighter, i just think he has way too many disadvantages in this fight. It just doesn't seem like it's on an even playing field from the begining. I feel the same way about all of floyds opponets at least right now, they all "can" beat floyd but none of them will. Floyd's biggest advantage has nothing to do with size or speed or power, it's how smart he is in the ring. We're all being set up my friends, but i will say i've always thought floyd will loose one day, when he starts fighting cause he has to not when he wants too so now maybe the time. We'll see i guess. So many other people i'd rather see him fight though. Someone his own size for starters or at the very least someone just as fast, jmm smaller and i think he'll still be a lot slower.

One thing is for sure, JMM, will definately be pressing the fight. In an agressive, but smart fashion. Floyd on the other hand, will be Floyd like always. He will drop his left hand down, roll his shoulders, use every tiny inch of the ring, and he will bore us to death with his Ali like style. Id rather see a rematch with JMM and Pacquiao.

mayweather will look to attack on the back foot and fight him on the outside, on the other hand JMM is not too bad a counter puncher and will look to utilise that.

I see this fight 100% lasting the pace and going the full 12, my prediction a marquez win on points!!

I could actually see Floyd leading in this fight, probably it will be Marquez coming forward, but don't be surprised if you see Floyd stand his ground and use in and out movement to confound Marquez. They both have great jabs, but Floyd's is longer, harder, and faster. I see Floyd controlling the fight enough that it won't be super exciting, but still a fascinating matchup, kind of like Mayweather- De La Hoya, maybe not a barn burner, but definitely an exciting fight. The difference IMO is that they will likely mix it up more, and there will be a higher element of skill involved in this fight.

If Marquez tries to engage Mayweather and make him fight then he is gonna lose horribly because it's not his game.

This fight with be both fighters looking to counter the other. marquez is at his best when he doesn't have to chase someone and lets them come to him.

Marquez is a lot like Alexis Arguello, its nearly impossible to beat him when bulling in, but it's hard for him to deal with a boxer. He can win against boxers, but its not when he is the most effective. Mayweather will box with him and that will give Marquez trouble.

Is it just me or can't everyone see what a fraud Mayweather is being in picking a lighter weight fighter to fight at Welterweight, when there are better fights for him like Shane and Cotto and yet people are thinking this is a competitive fight. JMM has nothing to loose, Floyd is trying to big JMM up, saying he beat Manny Pac twice and so on but no mention of fighting real challengers. Floyd is a Joke.

Is it just me, or does everyone try to find some sort of nitpicky reason to hate on Mayweather?

Floyd is a lighter weight fighter, he moved up all the way to 154 and won titles it doesnt make him a 154 pounder or a 147 pounder and he is fighting this fight probably around the 140 zone and the weight isn't gonna make a difference that much really, it's not like Mayweather is the kind of fighter who tries to impose his will on someone.

It's that kind of thinking that "mayweather just beats guys because they are smaller" that got Hatton knocked out by Pacquiao, he felt he was untouchable at 140 because too many fans and people around him saying "you only lost because you fought at his weight" which isnt even Mayweather's weight

Welter is Mayweathers weight and the fight is at that weight so for the so called best fighter p4p why not fight the best fighters and challengers at that weight.

Because when you are the best fighter you don't call people out, they call you out.

Marquez called Mayweather out and Mayweather responded. And he intends to fight Pacquiao.

You can dominate a weight division and get no credit whatsoever(example Klitschko in the heavyweights)

And Mayweather was undisputed welterweight champ and got no credit because of the names he did not fight.

Sometimes it's not about where you fight but also who you fight and at the time of their career. Fighting Marquez and Pacquiao would definately mean good for his p4p status. But as you've shown he wouldn't get any credit whatsoever.

Who would he fight at 147? Berto is inexperienced, Cotto is fighting Clottey, Williams vacated his title and has moved up to around middleweight apparently, who is left for Mayweather to fight at Welterweight? Shane Mosley is the only other name.

And yet if Mosley and Pacquiao fought no one would bash Mosley for fighting "the smaller guy" would they?

its selective criticism and hate when it comes to Mayweather

Floyd will be too Good for Marquez in the end...I can't see this being anything more than PBF handing out a schooling...But I would love to be wrong!!

JMM will be behind in the scorecards. But he'll catch Floyd in late rounds.

    JMM by KO.
