a friend of mine put money down towards it today at gamestop and got a special two week trial of the demo with some special code..

    i played a whole lot..

you an be pacquiao and hatton..

    it is AWESOME..

you can only box 3 rounds..

it's really realistic and the attributes for the fighters are great.. for example hattons left hand is more powerful than his right and i was banging to the body most of his fights and it was very effective..

you also can get caught with a big shot at any point, and it's not just haymakers.. if you get countered or walk into a punch you can get caught and your health blinks which leaves you in trouble to get knocked down..

pacquiao is fast as hell, and overall both of these fighters mannerisms were great and spot on..

you can also look at the gallery of boxers and it shows their overalls.. i believe pernell whitaker has the highest overall in the game with a 96.. i assume he will be ridiculously fast and effective..

The only thing i'm worried about (from watching the video) is the sheer amount of flush punches you seem to be able to take before going down.

Like EA still have to make it Rocky-like just to sell the game. The video i saw was two heavy set, thick muscle bound fighters square up to eachother throwing a variation of 4 punches....all landing flush, severley knocking the head back without any of them going down. Can you please tell me this isn't the case?

Also i'm worried about the knockdowns. The ones in FNR3 were so unrealistic. People don't sag like that and fall to the floor like a broken thunderbird and then get up at 6. It felt like EA tried to put the extremes of the sport into the action for 3 minutes of every round, where in reality it doesn't happen like that. A fighter may only take a couple of flush punches in a fight....hell it might only take a couple.

With all that being said i've still pre-ordered but my sodding code hasn't come through yet!

You still can take a number of flush shots before things get bad, and as i said you can only play 3 rounds in the demo, but in the 3rd round i was connecting hard a few times and the opponents head seemed to be going down dramatically.. the health meter is a little different.. it's sort of like the stamina bar in a way.. you have your health, but when you get hit, a lighter color of the health bar decreases, and then it goes back to where it started while you're recovering.. the main health bar eventually decreases like normal.. sorry if that was confusing, there aren't two health bars just one that acts like two..

i have a feeling when you're in the higher weight classes, or at least when you're using a big puncher that you can have more flash knock downs and early KO's..

the "get up" system is different.. you don't have to match up the pictures on the screen anymore.. you have to move the analog sticks still though.. you have two bars, a horizontal and vertical.. it's to simulate being wobbly and trying to get up.. the less hurt you are the easier the horizontal one will be to center, after it's centered you push up on the analog stick to stand up.

Just played it now. Not really impressed at all. Doesn't seem to play like real boxing. Seems really arcadey.

Pacman doesn't bounce around like he does. Like there is no emphasis on footwork. Feels like my feet are incased in concrete and i'm just swinging away. Controls feel really clumsy/sensitive aswell, almost like it's a lottery what punch gets thrown.

Obviously with the full game things will be different, the camera angle options will be useful but to me just seems like it's more Rocky, less sim which is really bad.

hopefully i'll get used to it at some point.

I really like it. The footwork thing takes a bit of getting used to, but after a while I started to get it. Its much easier to inside fight than fight on the outside but I assume thats all part of the learning curve.

My one major complaint with it is the get up game. Its just plain fucking retarded and I have no idea why they changed it. Its not very responsive at all and I can see myself getting pissed off if I ever get knocked down in my career.

I'm getting into it more now. Properly seem to be getting the hang of it. It is way too tempting to just stick to inside fighting but it's so satisfying catching Hatton as he comes in with a Manny Pac southpaw right hook. He throws it slightly akwardly just like he does in real life.

I wish there was more to the clinching system. Like you can't punch or push your opponent back. That would be cool.

Had the same issue as you guys found the footwork a bit irritating to begin with, I was hoping Pacquiao would bounce a bit more like he does in real life. Have won every time I've fought with Pacquiao largely by just sticking the jab in Hatton's face then hooking on the counter. It does seem to lend itself to in-fighting, but maybe part of that is the two fighters and also that its only a demo. One criticism that I do have is that the sheer volume of punches you're able to throw seems a bit unrealistic, I think I threw 500+ with Pacquiao in one fight which is a bit silly for 3 rounds, although maybe if its a longer fight doing that means you gas out quickly. Am really lookin forward to the game though & gettin beaten by many of you online

You can push your opponent back. Its with the buttons. You can clinch with Y and push with X. Use B to foul. If you're on the PS3 I assume its Triangle to clinch, Square to push and Circle to foul.

Is the demo available on XBOX Live? Didn't see it on there.

if you put money down at gamestop (or probably any other place) for the game, they give you a piece of paper with a code on it for a 2 week trial.. you put the code in and then download.
