Default Champion Toshiaki Nishioka vs. Challenger Jhonny Gonzalez for WBC 122 Title on May 23

link --> Nishioka: ‘I’ll impose my law!’ | Fightnews - Boxing News Updated 24/7

WBC Superbantamweight Champion Toshiaki Nishioka (33-4-3, 20 KOs) says he will not only defeat challenger Jhonny Gonzalez (40-6, 34 KOs) on May 23 in Monterrey, Mexico, when he defends his title, but he will make the world take notice of Japanese boxing. “I do not have any problem fighting in Mexico,” says Nishioka, who won his championship by TKOing top Mexican contender Genaro Garcia in January. “I am in great shape and will conquer Gonzalez. I am the champion and I am going to impose my law. It has cost me too much to be champion of the world and I am not going to leave the crown in Mexico.” It will be Nishioka’s fourth fight outside Japan; he is 3-0 in three U.S. outings.

Rafa Marquez fighting on the undercard...

I don't think this fight will be an easy one for Gonzalez! Nishioka is no slouch! I see Jhonny pulling it out but I believe there will be a few scares along the way...

Would have loved to see Gonzalez/ Rafa a few years back when they were both at the top of the 118 rankings (could have been for the Ring championship too) but better late then never I guess

    Marquez stops Gonzalez though imo

Rafael Marquez will be fighting a Colombian boxer in the undercard... Really I'm worried for Rafa against this Colombian banger... Rafa might be softened too much with his 3 brutal wars against Izzy... This will be his 1st fight since that 3 wars...

I always root for jhonny boy (aside from the penalosa fight) but he just never reach his full potential.

Actually it's 80/20 sharing of the $425,000 total purse in favor of Nishioka... (Julius, your math is kind of rusty )... It's a purse bidding the Mexican promoter won and as a champion, Nishioka is entitled to 80% of the purse...

He's that good... He's really a Japanese (closed eyes) ...
