In August 1968 The Soviet Union invaded Czechoslovakia ending an anticommunist uprising known as the "Prague Spring". Less than a year later the Czechs defeated the Soviets twice to win the 1969 World Ice Hockey Championships. All I can find on the net are scattered references to the match, such as the the link below. These matchups were apparently extremely intense and rough, because of the political situation.
