Thread: Andre "Son of God" Ward- and other weird nicknames

Why is his nickname, the son of god (SOG)? It seems like a really weird choice.


ALso on that same note, does anyone know why Timothy Bradley's nickname is "Dessert Storm"? was he in the military.

I believe Ward got the SOG because of his religous beliefs and background.

Bradley goes by Desert Storm simply because he trains and is from a desert area and to show his respect to the military. (Palm Springs although he lives near by in Cathedral City)
He trains in Coachella which is a desert in the Diaz Family gym.
(Julio Diaz, Antonio Diaz etc. etc. boxing fam.)

I always liked the nickname Buck " TOMBSTONE" Smith , we can only assume it was derived from the fact most of his opponents were DUG up before entering the ring.

Also Johnny "the entertainer" Nelson , ? WTF i dont think he ever entertained anyone in his entire career.

Behave!!! Johnny nelson was called the entertainer. My god. The only time I remember being entertained in one of his fights was against Karl Thompson

HOw come nobody mentioned John "the Quiet Man" Ruiz? (who should be known as Jab N' Grab) ?? I mean, this is a dumb name, the guy's not quiet at all, his mouth runs almost as much as a wind mill during a storm and in the ring, he's always doing something, jabjab grab grab, that's not quiet at all!

Andre ward is boring as shit and his monikor is wack. Son of god sounds gay and its rubbish. Everything about him is rubbish. The way he speaks, and the way he fights. I hope he gets street punched like ortiz one day.

Called the quiet man because his lawyer did all the talking. He kept suing his way back into rematches and title contention.
