    Default Cotto looking ahead...???

As usual a third hand info one normally will get from the internet sites. I don't buy it cause respective of time and consequences, there is no rhyme nor reason for it. If Miguel is entertaining these thoughts, this is tantamount to just cashing in on the fight.

So to this, I will say nay, and anticipate a slambang affair come fight night!

Anyway all things considered, it still is something relevant topic for the mega fight up ahead... especially to the risk-taking gamblers!

Pacquiao vs Cotto, one mega fight too little in the offing for the boxing year of 2009...

    Your take gents...

This is nothing new actually, he has been saying for the last few years that he doesn't plan on fighting past 32 years old.

Cotto is just being smart. The fight game is dangerous enough already and prolonging your stay there isn't too wise.

More so after being clubbed around with loaded gloves for a whole fight.

    Default Cotto Talking Retirement

Everyone would like that mega payday, but few get the opportunity.

Seeing this makes me wonder if Cotto will show up for this fight determined to win. It suggests that Cotto has found is ticket out of boxing.

I really respect the fact that Miguel Cotto is choosing his family over any other additional fame and fortune. I guess in his mind, his heart is wherever he is happy, and that happiness is spending valuable time with family.

At the risk of criticisms on bringing Pac's name to this Cotto thread, the write-up really exposes how much Miguel and Emmanuel share the same view as to the relevance and importance of family to them. They are good people really, if you get down to things essential.

All that hard work at training camp all these years each and every fight, there should come a time when one can just pack it up and do what instinctively the body dictates is best.

The earned monies and the fame already in the cushion, must be a nice padding to allow for this indiscretion! LOL...

I find it strange that he is giving 2 years notice of his retirement (I mean even if this is true).

Maybe he knows he can't win the Pac fight and is being gracious enough to give us boxing fans ammunition for which to argue his loss with after the fact while at the same time providing himself with a ready-made excuse?

Edit: Just to spare myself the trouble, that was sarcasm.

David Haye has also stated he will not be boxing past 30.

    Haye's retiring next year?

He has fought everyone put there in front of him, good luck to him if he has earned enough to retire. Sounds like a smart man if you ask me, I don't like seeing fighters past their best getting beat by guys they would have painted the walls with in their prime.

Well I assume he'll still be fighting when he reaches 30 which means it could run into 2011 his career.

He has stated numerous times he wants to unify the HW division and get out of there to do other things.

When did Cotto ever make excuses? If he loses, I don't expect him to make any either.

You obviously don't know anything about Cotto for you to say that he knows that he can't win, I guarantee you, that thought isn't even crossing his mind.

And as I have already stated, this is nothing new, I have read plenty of times over the last few years that he was not going to be fighting much longer. He does not want to fight past 32 at the latest.

I even put in an edit for just this scenario.
