Default Who Works at a desk??

After about 9 years of it now, my back is starting to have chronic pain... I've been taking about 4 to 5 pain killers a day for the last few months and it's driving me insane... The screen is eye level and my keyboard is the right distance and all that crap they say about getting the right posture when at a keyboard.. BUT the papers I work on sit to the left of me and I have to constantly be hunched over to my left and shit and it's screwing up my whole back....
It costs about $40 to see a good chiro for my back, which I have in the past and it was awesome.. My back felt great, I was happy, could sleep in any position (right now I can only sleep in one single position otherwise I can't breath properly and I am extremely uncomfortable). So I can't afford a Chiro at the moment as much as I need to see one, BUT I got so fed up with my back pain on Friday that I took my papers I was working on and said to myself --
"What would be the absolute best place for these papers for my back to be in a good position.. After moving them around, I found that hovering about 8 inches above my keyboard angleing up towards my screen was perfect... And I thought, fuck it! I'm going to make something that holds them there..

So I went and bought wood and some power tools and made myself a stand like what draftsman/architects use and hopefully all my back problems will be gone tomorrow!!! HOPEFULLYYY! I'm going to take a photo of it tomorrow and post... I admit for a desk jockey I would make a pretty good carpenter..

Anyone else work at a desk and have an f'd up back??

Our work place has an obligation to get us comfortable chairs and other equipment.

In those situations; Are you allowed to get up and stretch and wave your arms around like a windmill every now and then?

I do, considering that I am writing my thesis, for the moment it's all good but I change my position and the inclination of my screen now and then so my body doesn't get use to be in a sole position.

if i sit incorrectly at my desk i feel it the day right after.. so i make sure i practice good posture at work.. i also stretch just about every time i stand up.. walk to the rest room often as i drink a lot of water.. etc.. it's easy to get into a "comfortable" position that isn't considered good posture, but it will only hurt you in the long run.. do whatever you can to fix it, man.
