Default Does Kevin Johnson has a chance vs Vitali?

After seeing what Vitali did to a dangerous puncher in Cris Arreola do any of you guys think Kevin Johnson has any chance at all vs Vitali in December

    Kevin Johnson
    age: 30
    height: 6'3
    weight: 235-245
    reach: 82 inches
    Record: 22(9 KO)-0-1

The guy is as good as he's going to get as far as his potential goes. He's not fought anyone of "class" he's most recently beaten Devin Vargas and Bruce Seldon, both of whom he was able to TKO (he's got a 3 fight TKO streak). Johnson has never been in with a big puncher or a high calibre boxer, and hell Timor Ibragimov was the guy who drew with him.

We all know Vitali is older and this is a quick turn around by today's boxing standards, but Arreola didn't do that much to him...but is Johnson even going to make it 5 with Vitali?

Johnson looked very good against the volume of Vargas, like him or hate him Vargas throws a ton of punches, and you have to be doing something defensively sound to beat him. Johnson was also able to rupture Vargas's ear drum so there is some power there as well.

My problem with Johnson against either Klitschko is that Johnson's foot movement isn't that great, even though his upper body moves like Toney's.
A huge part of Arreola's looking good (relative to the other fighters Vitali has fought since his comeback) was his willingness to eat a little leather to close the gap, and use quick feet to get in. I don't think Johnson who relies exclusively on the jab and counter will be able to do that. I see him getting stuck in space eating jabs and not given the opportunity to land any meaningful counters.

So there is always a chance, but I would say highly unlikely.

Hell-fucking-no. I'd give pacquio a better chance. What he should do is have a "talk off" between him and haye, something both guys are better at.

Well Ibragimov was something like his fourth fight right?

I thought he was taller than though, that doesn't help his chances.

Still, and this probably isn't going to be the consensus opinion, he might be a tougher fight than Arreola. He's better defensively and for how boring he can be at times he does have a good jab.

Yes, Vitali may step forward but his toe gets caught on the advertising board & Vitali tries to adjust himself, his knee gives way. As this happen Johnson lands a punch. As Vitali can no longer walk the ref declares a TKO.

The other alternative is that Johnson fights in Nottingham & convinces the judges he is Carl Froch (ok I'm done now)

    Other than that - No.

I don't think so but one never knows. He does possess a tremendous jab with a decent reach and speed. That can be trouble for anyone. Then again who did he fight with those skills Vargas? Seldon? a draw with Timur Ibragimov early in his career. Klitschko should be able to stop him but don't think for a second Johnson couldn't frustrate him at times.

Probably not but he has promised his daughter a new house and he vowed that he would win the title for her so a little motivation/inspiration can go far ask Buster Douglas.

Think his handspeed could give Vitali big problems but his cockiness may see him try to match power...oops.I give him a shot.

No. Johnson lacks pop in his punches. This fight should be billed as "Slaughter in the Snow" or "Iced in the Ice" or "Burned in Bern" or "King Pinned" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think his power has improved a bit. He is sitting down on his punches more at least.

If you could combine Johnson's attitude with Eddie Chambers' skills, you'd have a real tasty fighter.

That being said, you have to imagine at his age that day is coming sooner rather than later. Not only does he have the talent and the chin, but just the fact that his reach is what it is and his height is what it is, his reign could be extended longer than it normally would for heavyweights.

with Iron shoes in his gloves and the judges not noticing it, everything's possible. Otherwise, he has more chances to win the powerball lottery buying one ticket the day they announce that the stack is now up to 60 millions.
