Thread: Francisco Bojado - What Happened ?

Bojado was Rick_Rack's avatar for ages, and 'Bad Boy Bojado' was his sig, I remember that...

Just checked and his last post was July 07, so that's a way back. Hope the man is alright, knew a lot about boxing did Rick and was a very passionate guy.


Wasted talent is the worst thing in the world, but discipline is imperative if you are a boxer, especially if you want to be an elite one. Boxers drink and party (Gatti/Hatton are two that spring to mind) but even those guys - when they were in training they lived like monks. It always amazes partying soccer players (Gascoigne/Best/Maradona) are the most talented we've ever seen and they can still be amazingly successful.

They way I rationalise is that on a team, you've got other guys who can do the graft. It's like when I was playing football - if I didn't want to chase back, I didn't. There are 10 other guys on the park who'd help you out. In boxing, you're naked. There isn't anyone in there to help you out, so people who've taken shortcuts in training are exposed pretty quickly. I think thats what happned to bad boy Bojado. Because that guy could have been anything.

It was Rickrack that sent me the early videos over from the States as it happens. He was one of the original old guard. I'd give him a call you know every once in a while, and we would 'shoot the shit' as he'd say.

He was nice bloke, how long is it since he posted here out of interest ?

I was still in contact with him up until last year,he has gone right off the radar maybe for some harsh reasons, he was into alot of stuff some people didnt realize.

Their little fighter Moses was set for big things he had taken out everyone except for the Mex golden gloves champ in his little age group. He was very young but looked good,hard to tell what he would grow into.

Too much too soon too easy.He bought into the spotlights,headlines and power rules the day mindset.Had promise but this happens alot with many young guys turned into stars before they are ready...mentally and physically.
