Default Mosley Plans To Take Mayweather Out, Then Pacquiao

Mosley Plans To Take Mayweather Out, Then Pacquiao - Boxing News

    By Mark Vester

"Sugar" Shane Mosley is coming for blood on May 1. The fight he's been chasing for several years is now here. He defends his WBA welterweight title against Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"I'm ready to go. I'm happy. It's May 1st and its something that I've been wanting. It's something that the fans have been getting a great deal of excitement out of. Everybody should come out and watch it because it's history," Mosley told AOL's FanHouse.

Mosley says Mayweather's days of cherry picking opponents are over. He feels Mayweather was forced into taking this challenge because the fight with Pacquiao fell apart. He plans to "take Floyd out" in May.

"Floyd fought a lot of guys who were past their prime or weren't as fast as him or as big as him. He picked and choosed. This fight I believe he got pushed into because the Pacquiao fight fell out. He got pushed into this fight. He really didn't want it. I can't wait to get in the ring and sink my teeth into this fight," Mosley said.

After Mayweather, Mosley plans to target Manny Pacquiao, who defends his WBO title against Joshua Clottey on March 13.

"After I fight Mayweather, I will then go ahead and fight Pacquiao just like I wanted to, jult like I told the world it should have happened in the first place," Mosley said.

I know there is a lot of talk of mosley looking good against margarito only because margarito was tailor made for him. But lets be honest here, I dont think Sugar Shane is a push over for anyone. Especially for two guys that are not natural welterweights. Floyd is going to be fighting someone who is quite quick and not only that but hits pretty hard. Shane has a great chin and I cant see mayweather really hurting him which plays a big factor because if mayweather cant discourage mosley from attacking at will then it could be a rough night for him.

On the other hand you have pac who is definitely not a natural welterweight and I dont think he has fought anyone near this weight that is as quick as mosley. Dont forget Shane has a killer right hand and the weakness of the south paw is the straight right, yes it goes both ways but I can see mosley being able to take a couple of those left hands to score a big right and if they connect often enough then pac could be in a world of hurt.

Shane is dangerous...but hes a good type of dangerous because everyone knows him. He may not be favourite to win these fights but god it does make it interesting.

Mosley had a better chance of beating Floyd and Manny when he was younger and on Victor Conte's special supplements. Now he's 38 with inactivity for about 16 months. At this stage the other 2 guys beats him. Floyd by wide UD 9-3.

This is a winable fight for Sugar Shane. Look at the 2 guys who dominated him (Winky & Forrest) guys that had excellent jabs and were just as strong as Mosley. Floyd is neither of those things. Mayweathers speed and quickness most likely carry him to a victory but I think it'll have some interesting moments. Floyd by split decision (ala Floyd-de la Hoya). Can't wait to see it live!!!

Wow, I don't want to let the air out of this ballon. But, last I heard, nothing was in writing. I think Floyd skips this payday and career ending KO to see if he can just take quadruple the payday in fighting Pacquiao.

But in the even this fight does happen. I think Mosley will win on my scorecard and get robbed. Floyd's style of fighting is still appealing to boxing judges last I heard and I see him using every last inch of the ring to save himself from exchanging anything. I am not sure Mosley can run him down. Mosley loves guys who'll stand in front of him, and it's been so long since he's had to outbox anyone who's faster than him.

Let me also say that I have always felt that Mosley can beat him, and he was the only Welter that could. Of course since then Pacquiao jumped in there. I guess this is just me casting a small shadow of doubt on this fight. In the end I know if mosley comes in decent shape he should be able to kick that "0" into the canvas.
"Floyd needs to inject Xylocaine into his balls to gain the courage to fight Pacquiao."

Look at it from the other side: last time Mosley fought someone with superior defense he got dominated (Wright). I don't know who you've been watching, but Mayweather has an excellent jab. He used it to the body and upstairs. I can easily see Mayweather's defense taking the steam out of Mosley and PBF winning by UD with superior speed and reflexes. Mayweather showed he can look fantastic after a year+ layoff, but what will Mosley look like at down the street from 40?

Lets wait and see what happens against Floyd before we start talking Pac man. I think Mosley makes it interesting for the first half of the fight but Mayweather closes the show and probably retires him. Literally.

This is a big opportunity for Shane to cement his legacy as an ATG, he will take it. He sounds fired up and I hope he delivers!

Mosley is going to have an extremely hard time winning this fight, he isn't great at dealing with movement, he doesn't throw straights punches(jabs and crosses) as effectively as Mayweather, and though he has a much harder left hook, it doesn't land as accurately from the outside.

After watching Mosley-ODLH 2, I can't see how he won that fihgt, but also how movement, but not running really caused him a ton of problems, and how a great jabber can easily outjab him, if movement is incorporated.

I just see Mayweather's in and out movement and defensive skills as too profound for MOsley to beat, I think he will really frustrate Mosley because he won't be there to be hit in return as quick as Mosley is.

The only chance Mosley has is muscling Floyd to the ropes a lot like Castillo and Oscar did.

Mosley at 38, inactive and way past his peak will lose a lopsided UD.

I just feel that Shane probably needs a knockout to get a draw if you know what I mean. He wont just be fighting Floyd, he'll be fighting the Vegas judges. Manny v Floyd is just waayyyyy too big to let a decision loss stand in the way. See Oscar and Felix. It's still a great match-up though that I'm very excited about it. I like to see Floyd with his back against the wall, it's only then we will truly see what he is made of. I dont doubt Floyd, but these type of tests define the true all-time PFP accolade.

Floyd on points for me, not sure Shane has the legs to chase him down for the full 12 rounds and do enough to get anywhere near a decision, deserved or not. It would be pretty cool to see Floyd rocked at some stage though.
Some people say boxing is a matter of life or death, it's not, it's far more important than that.

Absolutely man. I just really hope that this is a good fight and not PBF running and potshotting his way to a boring decision win....
