Thats what i did at first. But its 1 in each ten multiple of ten = 10.
but then there are 10 9s in the 90s due to 99.

So unless i'm mistaken its 20.

The manager told the front desk lady to give them their $5 back. The front lady could not figure out how would she split $5 to three men. 2 bucks. Guys paid 30 for the room, there is a 5$ discount so the room price = 25. Therefore, they received in total 5 back, giving them 1$ each means that out of the 5 bucks they had to receive back, they had 3 back so 5- 3 = 2.

So she took 2 bucks, it's just that the way the thing is phrased it looks tricky and it's a "false logic" thing since it is what they all receive back from a common pot of "returned change"

And I agree, 20 times the number 9.
