I haven't tried it but I have heard enough good things from various combat art forums to believe that it is (almost certainly) a good, useful, worthwhile program that is NOT just another "get rich quick" scheme to take your money.

I believe (not sure here) that it is a combination of a set of INTERNAL workouts, set up so that you rotate in different elements of the set so at you body can never habituate onto one 'standard' exercise set that offers only small incremental gains and so that you mind stays interested and challenged rather than have it become boring.

Since your body cannot habituate the regularly changing sets of exercises, you continue to see large improvements (for a longer time).

P90X is LEGIT! I recommend it to everyone, I did it last summer and it kicked my ass pretty good but I definitely got the results I was looking for, it got me as shredded and as physically capable as I've ever been. I wanted to bulk up this summer but I've had some bad luck with injuries from lifting heavy freeweights, so I am going for it a second time and only 2 weeks through this time around I definitely feel a lot better for myself. Give me 2 seconds and I'll post the schedule of when you are supposed to do all the workouts.
