Default Don King and Valuev hit back at Klitschko

Valuev: Vitali, I’m not afraid of you

    By Alexey “Oscar” Potapov

Former WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev has responded to the video message of WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. In an interview on Russian TV, Valuev said, “Vitali, you make a decision on your own. Do you want a fight with me or not? If you want to fight against me, I’m ready. I’m not afraid of you! Just say the time and place.”

Don King: Klitschko Did Not Want The Valuev Fight
    by: Ruslan Chikov

Last week, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko issued a video statement on the never-ending negotiations to make a fight with ex-champion Nikolai Valuev. Klitschko said Valuev was "scared" to accept an offer of $1.5 million for an October fight. Valuev issued a quick response to Klitschko's statement. Valuev claimed that he accepted the offer of $1.5 million and it was Klitschko who was running from their fight.

Valuev's co-promoter Don King, spoke with Bleek, and said there were issues with the rematch clause, but they accepted Klitschko's offer of $1.5 million and the fight terms.

"We accepted the fight. We agreed to Vitali's proposed fee of $ 1.5 million dollars, so I don't quite understand the motives of Vitali's video. We had a small disagreement at only one point - regarding the rematch. In the event Klitschko lost, he wanted to make a lot more money than Valuev in the rematch. But again, we are ready to fight," King said.

"And such treatment here from Vitali would only suggest that the Ukrainian did not really want this fight. I am sure that Valuev would beat the older Klitschko, and Wladimir. Why does Klitschko have such a low opinion of me? I absolutely do not understand that. I like Vitali, I like Wladimir. I like the Klitschkos, and I love Ukraine!"

Valuev has been given chance after chance to fight either Klitschko and its never happened. The Klitschko's are more than willing to fight dangerous fighters and just one look at Valuev and Don King's records you'll see that they have navigated the heavyweight division, they haven't ruled it.

And he accepted the 2nd offer as he and Don King are saying.

Yet you will wet yourself over the Klitschko vs Briggs fight on October 16th. Not to be shown on HBO cos they are fed up of the bums the Klits keep fighting.

Explain to me how Shannon Briggs should be the man to get the shot?

If you really believe Vitali is afraid to fight Valuev you have to be crazy.....

I don't see why Briggs should get the shot other than he's been more vocal about fighting a Klitschko and Briggs is desperate right now. A Valuev fight can still happen.

I am pretty happy seeing Briggs or Valuev KO'd....I think most people would enjoy that

Sam Peter was a decent comebacking opponent, JC Gomez was really a sparring partner given a title shot, Arreola a guy with a lot of buzz but basically a fat slob whose best win was over Jameel McCline, Kevin Johnson was a prospect who should have been nowhere near a title shot & Albert Sosnowski was favoured to be flattened by Audley which says it all. Vitali has become a joke to me, only Peter & arguably Arreola are decent opponents on that list. I understand the Gomez fight, but Johnson & Sosnowski were completely unacceptable choices. If he actually fights Shannon Briggs then I will give up on this muthafukka.

Wlad has been unfairly maligned, but he has to me fought the best opposition he can even if he is behaving like a biitch trying to have Povetkin's title shot stripped because he didn't come to one measly press conference.

What with David Haye occasionally having to take a break from being a professional celeb to actually do some boxing, this division is remaining a joke when actually it should at least be getting a bit better than its current rep. Here's hoping for Adamek.

Like it or not Kevin Johnson was the mandatory and despite a pathetic performance he earned his shot.

I rate Valuev and Briggs pretty much the same and if Vitali chooses to fight one or both of them that's fine by me, they are interesting fights IMO...they don't mean much but they are interesting nevertheless.

I think the only other viable option Vitali Klitschko has to fight right now is Odlanier Solis...who is his next mandatory challenger.

Wasn't Johnson a manadatory? So not as if Vitaly had a choice did he?

As for bums who is there for them to fight? Who? I mean between them the 2 brothers have pretty much slapped around every ranked opp there is so far....They really have no choices...Valuev is nothing to fear by anyone in the division...He lost to Haye...He lost to Chagaev....Chagaev gave the blue print...Haye rocked the shit out of him....And Vitali won't walk through Valuev as well?...I nsee no reason why he wouldn't...Valuev has a very very very suspect chin....The only reason I would like to see this fight go off is it would make history as the 2 largest men to even compete in a boxing match, largest Hewvyweight to ever face off and Largest men to ever compete in a world title bout...Other then that it would be a freak show and ugly fight

Kit does try and cover all basis with his rematch clauses and getting paid more but he should make the fight because there is no one out there that will motivate him other than Haye.

Rematch clauses are a part of the game....and may I just ask who is it the fans would come to see Vitali or Valuev? And a follow up question who's the giagantic dude always knocking guys out?

Vitali doesn't have a ton left, but he has plenty to deal with Valuev.

For about 4-5 rounds, Shannon Briggs has a much better chance against Vitali than Valuev will over all 12.

The older Klitschko stops Valuev by Tko, and if he can survive Shannon's first 10 minutes or so, should stop him late too.

how has Valuev earned the shot either?

Who has Wladimir or Vitali not been willing to face in the division? Wlad just had Povetkin and Haye run on him, and Vitali has had nobody to fight because all the best prospects are losing to Wladimir.
