hey guys,
I've been working on doubling and tripling up my jab and i've been getting some different opinions on it. I wanted to know what exactly is the correct method of a double jab? or are their possibly more than one depending on the situation?
one of the things i've been told is that a double jab is simply a regular jab, thrown twice, rapidly. That means step in slightly, and use full arm extension the first jab, right back to guard keeping proper balance and posture in mind and then immediately stepping in for the second with full arm extension and back to guard.
another way would be to throw the first jab with full extension, but instead of bringing it back all the way to guard... bring it back half way and snap it right back out there. The second jab may not be as powerful, but it may have more chances of landing due to speed of the combo. This way u can use the double jab to score or set-up for a bigger shot.
And another way would be to throw the first jab out only half way, almost like a feint to get your opponent to react and then step in with stiff second jab with full extension.
With the little knowledge I have, it seems that all three of these techniques may be correct and utilized best depending on the situation.
Thoughts? Comments? What is the technically correct way of doubling or tripling up the jab?
... Also are there any drills to work on the double jab?
