    Default Mayweather vs Gatti

4 years after now, but I watched the fight again tonight on ESPN Classic. Floyd looked elite and so sharp.

Also reminded me what a dirty little fucker he is. Leading with his elbows all fight, he throws them up to defend, connecting with them up close, just so quick with it though. The first knockdown was cheap, directly following a blatant hit on the break.

Was a good handover type fight.

people need to watch him more carefully, he leads with the forearm not his elbow, People need to start watching Muay Thai to learn what an elbow looks like, or where you strike while throwing one, or watch Telesco hit Roy JOnes iwth one, or the guy who dropped Gamboa then was stopped in the second round.

This was a great exhibition of boxing skill. It was the first fight were I really got to have a good look at Mayweather... Never really knew too much about him before this fight.

At first I thought he didn't, but after watching it a few times, the ref definatley called break and then Floyd popped one off. Then while Gatti was complaining to the ref about it, Floyd smashed him down! You can't argue with it, "defend yourself at all times" and all that. But it's not very sporting.

Fore arm to elbow is quite close, either way he does end up striking with parts of his arm other than gloves at times.

Floyd was punch perfect in that fight, Gatti never even got close.

i never heard the break, ill have to watch it again

thing is tho gatti was on the slide before that, then he had the fights with ward and it kind of put him back in the mix

they were fantastic fights and ward was great to watch but he wasnt exactly top of the tree

it was a cracking performance by floyd but not against someone who would exactly give him a test

b hop uses his whole body, bradley his head, ward mauls, margarito loads his hands, hell torres had people throwing full beer cans at holt, the sport in general is shady so on and so forth. Just like people here can watch floyd and see what he does so should his opponets. You know what all these guys are going to do before you get in there with them. So to go in there still let it happen and then cry about it after is just silly. Boxrec just shows who won........it doesn't matter how.

I watched that as well and it was a beautiful performance against a B class fighter, so why he cried like a girl after he won and made out he beat a legend like Tszyu is beyond me.

This had butcher shop written all over it going in. Think HBO was just salivating getting a franchise name like Gatti to meet him in his big breakout debut. Always baffled me how Floyd berated and lessened "club" Gatti going in and then did his best Sally Fields winning an Oscar afterwords. Can't have it both ways.

Yeah floyd looked great. BUT gatti had no defence, no movement and no speed. The first knockdown is illelvant weather you agree with it or not it wouldn't of changed the outcome of the fight.

Gatti wasn't a great fighter. Just cuz he's died in bad circumstance doesn't mean we have to exaggerate him.
