Thread: Arturo Gatti vs Ricky Hatton

At 140, in their respective primes.

Floyd called Arturo a club fighter, a "C" fighter. To an extent I consider Ricky to be in quite a similar category, much as I love him.

But they are both blood and guts offensive war machines.

What say you?

It would be a relative mismatch. Hatton at his best would steamroll Gatti, I really don't see how a case could be made otherwise. Gatti couldn't have kept up for long, he was a completely inferior fighter at 140. I'm sure it would have been fun to watch, but Gatti would really take a brutal beating to the body I think, and his moments would've probably been few and far between, if at all. Hatton wasn't another Mickey Ward, he was really quick on his feet and had a high output as well as being probably as good a body puncher.

Nice war. Off the top personally I say Gatti as he could box better when in mode,close maulings by Hatton could see him eating vaunted left hooks from Gatti and Hatton was no stranger too. Hatton could do serious body work on Gatti who felt them there so. Both marked up badly but Gatti mutual tko very late or dec. Sharper hitter better mover and more gears. Dont hook with a hooker and I think Gatti owns that.

Cmon now. Tsyu was still very good in dismantling former champ Shramba Mitchell prior to absorbing a TKO loss to Hatton.

While Gatti's best win was againts Ward? Hatton is a lil bigger too naturally.

Hatton would have destroyed him.

At 140, Gatti wasn't exactly the same, I would give the edge to Hatton at this weight, unfortunately

Could have gone either way really with Hatton being the heavy favorite. I suggested that fight happen many times, even if it had to happen at 147 later in both their careers, I saw it as a lock for Fight of the Year.

Would have been loads better than Hatton-Castillo!

Hatton-Corrales or Gatti-Corrales were some others I wanted to see.

It would have been a war. I would go with Gatti.

Gatti would of put up a great fight, showing typical Gatti heart but Hatton would smother Gatti's work and would be in his element all night long.

Come on now Prime Hatton would of done Gatti, look at the Ward fight for refrence Ward great heart and courage would of been dismanteled by Hatton, Gatti RIP legend would of been beat by Hatton 2003-2006 version anyway.

That depends on the referee and where they are fighting.

The shifting footwork for Hatton, yeh. You know though Ward every bit if nit more the body hitter Hatton was, chin and heart as well.

Miss two guys like this for the sport big time!!

Hatton stops Gatti with body shots around the 7th for me.
