    Default MLS Superdraft

    #1 Omar Salgado (Vancouver Whitecaps FC)(Generation Adidas)(USMNT U20)
First pick overall, young at just 17 years old. He's got a lot of upside, but I'm surprised Vancouver took him. Vancouver is going to have a lot of work and because they're an expansion team and are building from scratch. Salgado hasn't looked like he has the goods at all yet.

#2 Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers) (Univ of Akron)(Generation Adidas)
Nagbe was one of the favorites to be drafted first. 22 years old. He does well as both an attacking midfielder and a striker. He should bring some serious strength to the Timbers.

Toronto FC trades Chad Barrett to LA Galaxy

    #3 Perry Kitchen (DC United)(Generation Adidas)(USMNT U20)(Univ of Akron)
Kitchen and Nagbe were the consensus strongest players in the draft. Kitchen should be able to drop in to the struggling DCU squad right away, and is still young with more upside.

First defender in the draft taken 3rd Zip in a row to be taken. Solid defensive player, something that is desperately needed by the goats. This a very good decision

    #5 Zac MacMath (Philadelphia Union)(Univ of Maryland)(Generation Adidas)(USMNT U20)

First goalkeeper in the draft. The Union really need this guy, he needs to step it up right away. The Union have been pretty good offensively, but defensively the really struggled. MacMath is clearly the best available GK.

Admittedly, I don't know a ton about any of these players, but why in the fuck did Vancouver not pick Nagbe? There's been a fair bit of talk on the radio about this draft and all anyone, including the Whitecaps, have talked about is Nagbe. Why not at least trade down and pick up an extra draft pick or something.

    #6 AJ Soares(New England Revolution)(Univ of California)

A poor showing at the combine pulled him back in the draft a very good defender, it will be interesting to see if he can handle the physical style of play that is MLS.

Taking Salgado was really strange to me, they must see something that I don't, they need starters and I don't think he's there yet.

A defender that can threaten at goal, interesting pick. I don't know that he will really fit Houston's style. But he is definitely a solid player.

With this pick the University of Akron has set a record for first round picks. A small guy at 5'8" but he is a brilliant midfielder, kind of contrary to the standard MLS standards. Great choice, too bad he has to try to make something happen through Salgado.

Great defender, this team needs some serious skill and he can bring that as a defender, imposing and confident.

Big attacking midfielder, a little ways to go, but he should fit in nicely at SKC. Amazing speed, can cover the entire pitch in no time. SKC already has a super threat in the young striker Teal Bunbury (USMNT) if they can get their chemistry right this could be a very dangerous combo.

Big striker, could make some serious impact combined with Dynamo veteran Brian Ching.

The Crew are one of the two teams that have to resume duties a month earlier than the rest of the league, because they are in the knockout round of the CCL. They definitely need some depth. He is a great multipurpose player on the back half. For the heavy schedule that the Crew have they made a good choice here. Drop in player.

Definitely the best striker left available, has nose for the goal. After losing JPA to the reentry draft, they are looking to pair up someone with the speedy Dane Richards up front. He is definitely not the assist man though.
