Thread: Jamie McDonnell... Under the radar?

Watched him defend his European bantamweight title against Stefan Jamoye, in what was a highly entertaining and competitive fight.

There was one thread on this forum over the weekend in anticipation of this fight and a search into the Saddonian archives revealed that this fighter is one of the least talked about boxers here.
Perhaps this is because of his stature, his youth or even his lack of exposure, but this man deserves some serious kudos. He travelled abroad to bring his title home, is consistently in high quality entertaining fights and seems to be improving. His fight with Jamoye was sheer entertainment from bell to bell.

The Jamoye fight was cracking, kudos to the guy for not going down in the 2nd too.

I don't see him moving on TBH. When he won the British title I thought Ian Napa was robbed. Jamie has done well since to pick up the European title but he gets hit far too much and would get utterly murdered by the top guys at Bantam. I'd heard he previously enjoyed a bit of a playboy lifestyle too and I can't help but feel the minute he loses he'll stop taking boxing seriously again.
