    Default New Guy

I just got a heavybag so I could take some stress out. I haven't used it yet due to me not having a place to set it up. I was wondering if anyone had some tips for someone who is just starting up. I run half marathons and have lots of speed and endurance.

Look around and find some explanation of how to throw a proper punch so that you don't hurt knuckles, wrists, elbows or shoulders.

Yeah like everyone says, dont go stringing it up and just going for it. You do damage to your wrist and that will be all over, you wont hit it hard ever again make sure everything is line right through each joint in line with impact. Heavy bags unlike the name are not for hitting heavy punches into.

As most everyone is saying: Wrap your hands, wear proper gloves, but best is to go find a good gym and trainer who will teach you the basics correctly.

Otherwise you will be (almost certainly) practicing incorrectly. And if you practice wrong you will only get good at DOING IT WRONG.

Once you have the basic well enough to self-correct or self-coach, then you can hit away to your heart's content.

The original saying was: Practice makes perfect.

That's wrong. So it was changed to: Perfect Practice Makes Perfect.

Close, but it is unlikely you can always do it perfectly (enough) so the best way to think about practice is: Perfecting Practice makes perfect.

    Always improving.
