Thread: Howard Winstone - Risen

Never heard of Winstone before but the story sounds quite good. How good is the movie? Anyone watch it.

Winstone is an amazing story. Loses the tips of three (?) fingers on his hand and still goes on to become feather strapholder? Think that man had some steel in him?

The reason he isn't a boxing legend and in the HOF is he fought at the same time as Mexican legend Vicente Saldivar. I think they fought three times and every time it was for the undisputed featherweight championship. Winstone just couldn't get over that hump. He finally won a strap when the WBC stripped Saldivar. Winstone took out the fine Mitsunori Seki for a strap. I could be wrong, but I don't think he ever defended it.

I haven't seen the movie. I wonder who they got to play Saldivar? Now I gotta find a way to see this.

Well... Then I suppose I'll have to watch the movie.....
