Thread: Joe Louis and Max Schmeling: The Full Story

I haven't really been posting too much as off late, seems I am busier out of work that in it!

But also, I suppose it's quite on the Boxing front also. So I have been looking back instead of forward and have found some real gems. Some I'll put up in good time but this one is GREAT!
Some things I genuinely never knew about Louis or Schmeling... For example Joe Louis' man Mike Jacobs was so desperate to get Louis a shot at Braddock instead of the more deserving (at the time) Schmeling that he promised Braddock 10% of Joe Louis' future earnings FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS!!!
With deals like that NO WONDER Joe Louis ended up in trouble with the Tax Man

But anyway, I'll kick things off with part 1 but I'm sure you can easily find the rest. Really great watch, don't pass up on it

Yes Braddock got a great deal considering Louis went on to make 25 defences. Max paid for Joe's funeral, and did not want to be associated with Nazism, but it made for great boxing propaganda.
