    Default Training questions (video)

Hey, im a new member to the boxing fourms. I've been reading them. Just never joined one untill now. To start off, i wanted to tell you guys about myself, so that you can help me out. I've never boxed or trained how to in a gym. I have always loved the sport and so i have been training at home alittle by myself with nothing to guide me but what i learned from read and watching TV(youtube). Well i recorded a quick video of me hitting a 100lb bag. Its not the best quailty or size since i recorded it with my phone. But i hope its good enough for you guys to watch and maybe help me out with some pointers. On how i can improve or if my form is wrong. Thanks

Also, Since im a new member. I see that i cant post a video or link. The video is on youtube, so just add this after .com/watch?v=kUr108r3460

Not bad for picking things up on your own. You push your shots out sometimes and your right hand is thrown far too short too name a couple of things.

    Thanks for the reply!
Im gonna try and work on that right hand. i was worried about over extending. The day i took that video i was sore. So, im going to take a better video with the heavy bag and double end bag.
    Thanks

Time to head out and get to a good boxing gym. You got some decent speed and pop there.

    Regarding the eye lash comment

Missy broke a toe nail while rooting something this week apparently all our sympathies have to lie there.

    I can explain it.
But I cant understand it for you.

One thing I noticed in both video's is you're dropping your hands after you land a punch where-as you should be bringing them straight back to your chin, you leaving a big gap to be hit. Keep it up mate.

You need to move your weight. Everything you throw is off your front foot. That is why you slap your hooks and push your right hand. At the beginning of the heavy bag video you were doing pretty good...Then you got your weight on that front foot and stayed there. When you jab, the weight should not (and emphasize that) transfer onto your front foot; it leaves you vulnerable to getting hit and it messes up your right hand. When you hook, that weight needs to go onto your back foot- makes for a better punch and then you can throw a right hand properly as well. All in all, pretty good though, as the above is a fairly minor fix if you focus on it.
On the 2x bag...as noted above you were doing some funny things with your hands. I've never been a huge fan of that particular school of thought, that way of using that bag...Let me suggest circling the bag and controlling it with a jab, at first, and then only hitting it as it comes towards you. Very helpful for shortening up your punches and for learning where your weight needs to be to make each punch work at a variety of distances.
