    Default Whiskey/Vodka/Etc

I'm not a big whiskey person. I like some Maker's Mark from time to time but I'm no whiskey expert. I've had a bottle of Glenlivet 12 for ages and am trying some tonight. No ice, just whiskey. Its pretty decent.

Mainly a beer and wine person but if I drink liquor its usually vodka. Usually straight or with water. Always with ice. Grey Goose usually.

So, a liquor thread. The culture board needed one. Commence posting.

    I'm big on whiskey...
Straight up on ice or sometimes with a hint of water depending my mood.

2 of my best friends are Jack Daniels & Johnnie Walker (red)

I fucken hate Crown Royal and Seagrams 7... Also Chivas Regal.
    Buchanans is ok.

I used to LOVE whiskey when I was younger, but I had some the other night (decent stuff too) and I hated it. I'm a gin/vodka/dark rum guy now. Nothing else can satisfy my alcoholic cravings.

Try Cinnamon Schnapps with a dash (few drops) of Tabasco sauce.

I stay away from all hard liquor. Well, since that night last month when I drank a beer glass of whiskey. Since then even the faint aroma of whiskey is something that curdles my blood.
I was out of my gourd that night and somehow even logged on here and threatened to leave again. Mental.

Jack Daniels is pure shit, fact. Well commercialized but that's about it, the quality for a whisky is utterly crap, it,s ok for Rum and coke or other mixes but to drink pure, other than to have the skin of your cheeks removed Best whiskeys on earth quality vise are (imo) by far the scotch whiskys, you have some irish one which are top of the mark as well and the japanese for the couple past years have produced something top notch, especially the Santori. Personally, my favorite ones are the Talisker, Cao Ila and Laphroaig but many specialists will argue in favor of the MacAllan as perhaps the best scotch whisky (the process of olding is made in porto cask now which gives it a very special flavor).

As for Vodka, the best ones I own are the Stolichnaya ELIT (to not confound with its sister the mere Stolichnaya) and the Ultimat, damn difficult to find but once again, when you drink that, you know that it's not your average Troika or Smirnoff. These are even above the top qualities like the Grey goose or the Belvedere. Still, I couldn't refuse a grey goose or a Belvedere anytime of the day, damn good produces.

    ....Who are you?

Blanton's single barrell Bourbon is the heat!

As for other spirits: Brokers Gin, Dimple Pinch Scotch, Craken Rum, Sailor Jerry's Rum, and Stoli vodka even though I'm not a huge vodka fan.

Do we have a beer thread already open

Sailr Jerry's is out-fucking-standing. I think it might have been you Lyle who introduced me to the dark and stormy made with SJ's. I could go for one of those right about now...

I also have a torrid love-affair with Bombay Sapphire gin.

I do love a bit of whisky (note the distinct lack of an e, which means its usually better stuff) and enjoy some Laphroaig, Glenfiddich special reserve 16yrs and Isle of Jura. Also I quite like Jamesons for mixing, and Bushmills is for when I'm not sure if I want to mix, and don't want to spend too much, or will be drinking neat.

Being Welsh, I feel obliged to big up Penderyn whisky, which isn't too bad, but simply overpriced because its Welsh.

As I write this, I'm sipping on some Isle of Jura, which this thread partially inspired me to buy. What better birthday present to myself!

Anyone gone for a whole night on the Thailand Mekong whiskey?

They sell em straight not mixed like mid sized stubbies over there.

Smooth ..no banging hangover,no pukes, no end to it, cheap as =party till dawn.

Probably all adds up clinical alcohol .
