So many blatant rabbit punches, atleast 25 or 30 really hard ones thru the fight, you have to wonder if that's what contributed to his blindness. Ref should have stopped that. McClellan's corner should have really protested. I had never seen this until today believe it or not, only heard about it. Feeling upset now to see Gerald slump in his corner like that. Making faces, he KNEW something was wrong. This is what makes me dislike boxing sometimes. I know its part of the game. But God, the heartache. And then this:

Thats out of order, benn didnt mean to disable gm it was just a tradic end to an epic fight, all the punishment dealt out out in that fight it could of bin benn who ended up disabled, it had fuck all to do with rabbit punches, it was probably down to previous heavy blows and all the sledgehammer shots landed that night, both boxers fought lije warriors that night

Yeah I doubt it, as far as I would gather rabbit punches are more dangerous over the long run and are illegal more due to the fact that they are almost always thrown when the fighters are tied up. Considering the onset of McClellan's brain damage after the fight and prior problems you have to think it was just a matter of time before it happened, sadly. What gets me more about watching that fight is that Benn was basically held up and pushed back into the ring by some members of his camp(I imagine?), he could've very well been stopped in the first round without outside help imo.

I've read a lot about this, and i'd say no way did rabbit punches have that effect. From everything I've read, Mcclellan might well have been having a few probs before hand. Love the G-Man, one of my fav fighters.

Julian Jackson caused some damage in their first fight, he was smashing him to bit for 3 rounds until the head butt. After the fight in interview he said he had a headache and wanted to sleep.

The damaged started way before this fight...it probably happened in at the gym when sparring was at its most furious...i read somewhere he was already getting headaches and dizzy spells many timed before he fought Benn

job biscuit (don't be short sighted...it wasnt Benns fault)!!!
