Default Mayweather getting into Ortiz's Head...

Floyd's camp is really a master on psychological tactics during pre-fight. Thats becoming their trump card and so far, its working. During the fight prescon, Floyd on the very last minute told Ortiz that his father -- Ortiz Sr. never really left him.. Wow, that will make Ortiz Jr think for a while about his father, his past, and will surely affect him during the fight.

Ortiz is not the only person to get a peice of Floyd's clever (but bitter) tactics.. Danny Garcia has been a target the last few days. His brother Robert who trains Rios, was given tickets by Floyd to come see the fight. We all know the beef between Garcia brothers and all, and it might affect Danny's focus on the fight.

And now we have this news that Ellerbe will try to bring more surprises for Ortiz Jr come fight night. One of it, will be the possibility of having Ortiz Sr. on ringside.

Mayweather camp could invite Ortiz's estranged father to the fight | RingTV

I cant seem to imagine the look on Ortiz Jr's face once the big face of his estranged father shows up on the screen from time to time during the fight.

Well, when emotions take the better of you, you can lose focus. Instead of doing what you have planned and practiced to do, you will do more things out of the usual. And that will be Ortiz's weak point. Floyd's camp knows this. Ortiz is in high spirits after the win over Berto, and that's the only advantage Ortiz has at this point -- confidence. To take that away, you have to destroy Ortiz's focus, make his head spin by putting thoughts into his mind during the fight. Confidence is in the mind - disorient the mind and you can destroy confidence. Its really a brilliant idea and someone who knows human psyche well can do this...

Pretty good tactic. This is entertainment -- put a little drama in there and it will spice up the audience. But Floyd is clever enough to use this into his advantage.

Whatever we call it, weather we hate it or not, Floyd knows its working, and its keeping people wanting to buy the Mayweather show.

Masters of pre fight psychology? I don't think so at all. Floyd is mentally primitive and intellectually defunct, but come fight night he is always in good nick. It's his skills and work ethic that make Floyd what he is. His mental prowess is pretty much obsolete. In the pre fight build up it is all silly kid ego and nothing more.

If Mayweather does invite Ortiz Sr, and that piece of shit turns up then I will be rooting for Victor to annihilate Floyd and toss his worthless hide out of the ring and into his pathetic excuse of a father's lap.

I really doubt Floyd would do that, it would be beyond crass imo, the equivalent of a boss inviting the childhood abuser of a female member of staff he didn't like to the work's Christmas party.

I really hope this doesn't happen

I agree with some of your points.
I did not sigle out Floyd being good intellect-wise. I mentioned "camp" or the parties within FLoyd's inner circle. Those folks are doing a good job -- the research about Ortiz's personal troubles, and not only with Ortiz, but his training Danny Garcia. Its also intriguing that on several fights, Floyd was able to dig deep into his opponents personal life and use it during prescons and interview like a way of getting into his opponents head.

No, you didn't. I made that addition having listened to some of his bizarre ranting.

Floyd is clearly retarded when it comes to use of the mind and forming coherent thoughts. He is a fine boxer though.

I think you are right, Floyds got 'issues'. His skills are being overshadowed by his behavior outside the ring -- but its a fact that it draws people's attention. More and more people wants to see him lose, and it helps him sell his fights.

Just a funny incident on the prescon, Cameras caught Floyd giving Ortiz's nose a little sweet suck..

Full perspective and skins on the wall...If Mayweather has to effort or make it a point to get into Ortizs head...round 1 goes to Victor.

That is exactly how Victor needs to think about it all.

The public got into Ortiz head. The promotion!!! They all saying, "Ortiz made every fighter he faced taste the canvas". If he come into the fight with the one game plan. And that's to KO Mayweather, we are going to see the same thing that happen to Hatton.

Probably but he cannot outbox Mayweather. His only chance is to go for his shots and try to damage his man like Mosley did in round 2. Mosley was just far too old to follow up effectively.Ortiz won't be blowing through his arse. But his only chance really is to pressure and land hard.

And Hatton for me put up the best recent showing we have seen against Floyd. For the first 6 he was totally in the fight and it was only that screwed up docked point that started to to really mess it up for him. Then of course it became unstuck, but it was Hatton losing his cool more than Mayweather making any real adjustments. Hatton just gave him more chances.

To beat Mayweather you have to pressure him and try to crowd him. Hatton and Castillo are the blueprints IMO.

I kind of agree with you. But the pressure have to be more like bullying Mayweather to the ropes. If he crowd Mayweather in the center of the ring and not take away one of Mayweather hands or his countering ability, it's not going to work. He needs to smother PBF so much that he can't throw his left and only able to throw his right across his body. We all know that PBF is going to tuck his chin behind his shoulder and give his opponent his left side. Problem is, Ortiz square himself up when throwing power shot when his opponents are against the ropes.

    Interesting point . . .
You saying it and I just read Ortiz's trainer saying it. Floyd don't make any real adjustments. INTERESTING. I got to go back in the acheives. I think he do, do settle adjustments but not many.

I think it may hype up Victor to kick Floyd’s ass, so may back fire on him. I hope it does make Ortiz super charged and go all out to blast out Floyd.

Yes! good post i agree. Years before Hatton faced PBF me and a mate came to the same conclusion as you. PRESSURE and lots of it is the way to beat Mayweather. But it has to be applied right. Castillo did so well and we used to say that Hattons swarming pressure could trouble mayweather and it did as you say and yes the point deduction was the turning point in the fight and Hatton unravelled right there and then. I think he felt as though he was fighting 2 blokes that night.

Excited to see how Ortiz can apply the pressure tomorrow night. Plenty of head movement wouldn't go amiss neither
