    Default Large Plasma TV's

    Hey guys,

Prices have come way down. Now my wife is looking at splurging on a 60" plasma. We think plasma doesn't burn your eyes as much as the LED's so we think the Panasonic is a good choice and we've seen them at Costco for $1,099 + $99 for a 3 year extension on the warranty. It seems to have most of the specs 1080p and the ports and all that.

Something, I noticed in the adds is "Smart TV's. I guss they are adding features. I notice two things on the Panasonic. 1. A Ethernet network interface and 2. a SD Card. I also notice some models have wifi. I notice one add for sony that said it comes ready with skype. So it got me thinking are they putting dvr's in them now too? Or are they going straight to youtube, netflicts and internet browsing making them all-in-one appliances? Who need HBO for movies if you have netflics?

Personally, I think as long as it has a ports all you'd really need is a netbook or one of those $200 all-in-one-atoms seeing how the resolution is not all that demanding.

I thought LCD were better than plasma. We have HD over here which is catching on and many channels produce programmes on it. Hardly ever use the ports. The internet TV’s look like the next big think, forget about the 3D TV yet.

What I read was LCD's have a harder time producing a good black and can get slow with the pixels switching as compared to a more vibrant color of plasma. There was a knock on the early plasmas not having longevity. I think they have progressed beyond that now. LED's are getting a big push now and they say the black's are better, but they have been getting the eye's are bleeding reviews. I read their nick name is "torch light" complains of getting sea sickness after watching for a while. When I compared them in the big store the LED's, LCD's and Plasma's all had great pictures but I could understand the reviews on the LED's because they were the brightest. I understand they can be toned down but I'm not so sure they are worth the extra bucks. I'm expecting to get 5 years out of one with the way technology gets developed. I've hooked up my laptop and streamed some fights across. I watch some of the videos from HBO and they come across great. My daughter is always hooking up her computer so we get use out of the ports.

    Smart TV is a must.

Just helped my sister buy a new plasma and the Smart TV is incredible.

I'm actually plotting a 65 inch TV for my new house, I was amazed at just how cheap a good one is. Around £1300 for a massive 3D TV like that seems pretty cheap compared to the £1000 I spent on my first plasma

Bought a 60" plasma last week but it sat in the garage til last night. It's bigger in the room than it was on the show room floor. It's Smart too.

    Hang it on the wall.

I thought 3D TV gave you a headache.
