What a shame it's going to be when Dawson is stripped of his title and has to rematch Hopkins. Fact of the matter is this, he can talk trash about Pascal losing to Hopkins, but Pascal beat him pretty clearly and it was him that didn't step on the gas when he should have when he had Pascal out on his feet.
See Dawson is extra frustrating for two reasons, one the way he tries to parade around like he's really the champ and insinuate that Hopkins wasn't gonna beat him and looked for a way out. If that was the case he'd have folded against Pascal the first time, and the second time when Pascal had him hurt more than once. Dawson didn't have him anywhere near that kind of trouble so he shouldn't give himself such credit, neither should any sensible fan.
Second, he talks all the trash to Pascal about having him out on his feet and being lucky, well Pascal was only lucky because Dawson didn't have it in him to try to step up the pace the multiple times he should have and only has himself to blame but pops off at the mouth like its someone else's fault.
So, once this short lived nightmare is over, I truly hope Hopkins can come back at 100% and humble Dawson badly, he has nothing to be proud of and neither does the sport of boxing.
Thank You.
That is what I'm saying. Where the fuck does Dawson get off that Hopkins was "scared" ? Hopkins was in no trouble what so ever in the brief two rounds with Dawson. It resembled the Taylor fights, with neither man doing much and splitting hairs to score rounds.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Dawson seems to be really good at giving himself more credit than he deserves to build himself up.
"I had Pascal out on his feet he was lucky."
When the reality is it took him a while to even respond to it and try to step on the gas and even then he let Pascal off the hook, his fault.
"I had Hopkins in all sorts of trouble and he didn't wanna fight me anymore."
Evidenced by what? If anything you were still at a stalemate trying to figure out what to do while Hopkins was starting to find a home for his right hand which you never seem to be able to avoid.
Dawson is full of crap, another Tarver in the making but he'll never even back it up cause he's scared to even rematch Hopkins again cause deep down, he knows it.
Hopkins put it perfectly after the fight when he said "He knows I wasn't as slow as he thought I was, and he knew he wasn't in with an old man tonight." yeah Dawson knows it now, so what's he gonna do? He's gonna talk a lot of trash, and avoid Hopkins at all costs. Now who's the punk?
At the very least Pascal gave Hopkins a rematch and after the first fight he didn't have to. Pascal isn't as technical a fighter as Dawson, maybe not even as talented in terms of natural talent, but he has more heart and guts than Dawson will ever have.
I'll definitely be rooting for tight pants Pascal if they fight again.
Based on the flow of their first bout, Pascal was headed towards a KO loss.. Once Dawson started letting his fists fly, pascal looked like a deer caught in a headlight.. He got rocked hard but was lucky that the doctor stopped the fight..
Dawson would kick his ass in a rematch.. IM sure of it..
I like Dawson in a rematch with Pascal.
For my money, the best light heavyweight out there is the Black Russian, Ismayl Salikh. He shouldn't be rushed into anything, but I like his upside more than Cleverly's, Cloud's, Hopkins', or Dawson's.
don't forget that Pascal rattled up Dawson plenty in the early rounds, Dawson wasn't the reason that Pascal started to fade it was Pascal due to his shitty stamina, if he pressured or jumped on Dawson early on i wouldn't be shocked to see him get an early KO without the help of the ref, and this is that i was one of the few backing up Dawson after the first fight, he doesn't pack as much power as he thinks he does, his workrate is shit, and the dude is the new Haye at LHW
It's funny how you can admire a fighter for being humble and down to earth and lose all that respect in a matter of days.
I watched the Pascal v Dawson fight live but after listening to Dawson tell Pascal he had him "out" I thought id watch it again.
I saw what I saw the first time. Pascal takes a nice uppercut and it stuns him for a moment but he doesnt wobble, doesnt hold and doesnt really look hurt and he starts coming back in that same round too. I also saw Pascal hurt Dawson to the point where his legs did go and he did hold (alot). Pascal wasnt on the verge of being knocked out, if anyone was lucky a round ended when it did it was Dawson when the bell to end the 8th rang!
Pascal tired as the fight went on. He has a very good chin and fast hands and was able to hurt Dawson. I see the same thing happening again. Pascal rellies on his speed and his work rate because to be honest hes not that elusive or that good a boxer and he puts alot of work in early then tires but his speed seemed to intimidate Dawson a bit.
I think Dawson was quite humble there, and I rate him even more from that video.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
2 ghetto morons jawing at each other.
Anytime i see pascal, i still remember him talking the same shit to edison miranda. The look on pascal's quiet face when banks flew ko'ed through the ropes after was hillarious. Dawson pascal would be a toss up imo. Neither are anything special but both are better than how they are being talked about
