Default New gloves and sore hands

I just picked up a pair of Everlast training gloves (because I can't stand putting my hands in sweaty gloves at the gym) but right now they're hurting my knuckles. Specifically, counting from the tips of the fingers, they're hurting the first set and moreso the second set of knuckles when I hit the heavy bag (not the main large striking knuckles). I've never had a problem like this before. Is this indicative of a poor fit or is it normal for new gloves or what? They're definitely not too small...in fact I'm concerned tha tthey're too loose, but they seem nicely snug when I put them on when wearing wraps. It's like I can't seem to make a tight fist and because of it the wrong parts of my hands are absorbing the impact.

    Any thought? Thanks.

those are like the gloves that i use at my gym so i can't say its the gloves. i guess since we can rule out the gloves themselves, it musy be some other factor. ours are old though so.. take that how you want to. hope that helps a little

Von could be a couple of things, different brands are stitched differently and have a longer or shorter space for your fingers depending on your hand size so they maybe be too cramped or too snug the bar maybe in a slightly different place so your fingers can't curl properly. Have you tried on a couple of different brands?

I don't think I'm wrapping them too tight.... hmm.

I think it's more of what Missy said.... there's something going on with my ability to form a tight fist and the wrong parts of my hands are taking the brunt of the impact. They hurt even when I hit the bag without wraps on. In fact, I can hit the bag without wraps and without gloves and the pain is much less.

I'm going to try tying them in a tight circle to break in... like working a baseball glove.

So, I was at my gym on Friday and started talking to this guy who clearly had more skill than me. This guy was a machine. I noticed he had the same gloves. So I go, they hurt your hands at all. Nope, he said. Then we were talking about what's ailing me. He told me to try loosening my wraps... so I did.

    Problem solved.

So, if wraps aren't meant to be worn tight (or snug) what the hell are the for? I was wearing them just tight enough that I couldn't quite make a tight fist which apparently, according to that guy, can cause knuckle pain on impact.

I agree with this here,,,wrapping hands to tightly may cause what you think is pain when its more the circulation being cut off....

    m8,

as it says on the site they will mould to your hands in time,

i had the same problem with a pair of twins boxing gloves (suppost to be one of the best out)

anyway they where hurting my knuckles and at £75 quid i wasnt prepared to chuck em, so i used them and after a few weeks they moulded to fit my hands and i felt comfy in them.

You have to be careful with Everlast because there a huge corporation and have lower end novelty products. There professional equipment is great! but they also have low end equipment that they rob people with like the $30 boxing gloves which are sandwich foam meaning folded foam and not layered and not leather, they usually sell these in the sports authority and modells and there nothing more than glorified TOYS which can hurt your hands and bust up your knuckles. If you can afford it they have the professional leather and layered foam gloves which are one of the best gloves you can buy they cost about $75 and say save up and get those the fit will be great, the'll last and protect your hands properly
