    Default Spitting the mouth guard

What is the whole purpose of a guy spitting out his mouth guard during a fight? I mean, if we say a guy does that to recoup some energy, well, the other guy will do as well and continue to beat him up.

That’s what Manny Pacquiao did clearly vs JMM. He blatantly spat the mouth guard to the side. Why? What's the point?

usually if intentional it's just to buy time, some clear examples were Chico Corrales against Castillo in their first fight, also Acelino Freitas against (coincidentally) Corrales, but there are occasions that it's not necessarily on purpose rather the fighter is breathing through his mouth takes a shot and it's knocked out

You’re right. Can’t forget Corrales vs Castillo. Maybe it was effective for him as he did get some energy back and look what happened after.

I guess Pac was exhausted and that is why he had to spit it out.

I'm always worried that this kind of tactic will backfire badly, and if they catch an uppercut with the gumshield out, then obviously it'll be pretty painful.

However, maybe it's worth it if they get 15 seconds to clear their head.

I guess its like holding...its not really allowed, but if you don't overdo it you get away with it...buying some time if you are hurt is definitely worth it...

EAS should implement that into FN6 and make some use of the d-pad; but make it have a second time penalty plus a really long recharge time for reuse to void out spam.

I dont think he did it on purpose. I just watched it now in slowmo and it seems that the mouth guard fell off when he seems to brush off his cheek using his gloves. It feel off, and then he looked to where if went thus it seemed the he spit it out on purpose.

If he deliberately spits out his gum shield then the ref can deduct points. As superheavy said it would be very painful taking a blow to the chin and having your teeth fall out.
