The WBO are screwing someone over again. Poor Cleverly and Warren are trying to fight an amasing contender in Krasniqi. Who has defeated such boxers as Hakim Zoulikha and Abdelkahim Derghal who you probably havent heard of but with names like theres they must be really good.
Krasniqi is undefeated in 24 fights. The last five fighters have a combined record of 70 wins and 50 losses so they have won way more than they have lost.
In my opinion such a guy is worthy of a WBO title. Why wont they santion it and do there job.
Warren was hopeing this fight would take place to line up a super fight with the winner of Hopkins Dawson. If Cleverly beats this guy he deffinately deserves a shot against one of those two.
Poor Cleverly and Warren. What is the world of boxing coming to.

Warren doesn't seem too keen on matching Cleverly against Sukhotsky.

He didnt want calzaghes wbo he wanted his WBC!! The wbo would have come with it which he would have dropped that belt cos the guys that have it always seem to be mediocre

Froch is a Hippocratic and thats what I meant.

I think what you actually meant is "Froch is a hypocrite." "Hippocratic" refers to the oath taken by medical doctors, after Hippocrates.

(Though for the reasons AdamGB explained, Froch is not a hypocrite.)

mate i am a massive calzaghe fan, and he was a genuine world champion whilst he was the WBO world champion

but i dont see the WBO as a major world title

it might be 4th in line it might not but either way it is long way behind the top 3

Why?

Over the past 20 years dozens of "great" fighters have held the WBO title.

Oscar, Pac, Hopkins, Morales, Barrera, Marquez, Naz, Lopez, Cotto, Corales, Castillo, McClellan, Benn, Winky, Guzman, Tapia, Morrison, Duke McKenzie, Enzo Macc, Herbie Hide.

That's a serious effing list and i've left shitloads out.

Obviously it's just a belt and many great fighters have held it; however it does seem to serve as a glorified domestic title whenever a Brit gets a hold of one. Warren clearly has a very cozy relationship with the orginization as they are always incredibly lenient on his fighters.

This time the WBO are actually trying to get Cleverly to fight someone of reasonable note. The guy the WBO want Clev to fight is Dmitry Sukhotsky ranked ninth in the world. Not great but a reasonably good record.
The guy Clev and Warren want to fight is Krasniqi, a serbian with a record of 37 wins and 2 losses, which sounds good but when you look at his list of opponents you will be ashamed of the sport of boxing.
Here are the records of the last 6 fighters he has fought:

1. 16 wins and 2 losses (not terrible)
2. 14 wins and 11 losses (not good)
3. 9 wins and 4 losses
4. 17 wins and 12 losses
5. 14 wins and 21 losses (Why bother)
6. 1 win and 11 losses.

The last 6 opponents he has fought have a collective record of 71 wins to 61 losses. He has made a career of beating on journeymen. So his recoerd looks good but is really a big pile of sh*t.

For some reason Warren thinks beating this guy will line Cleverly up for a super fight with either Hopkins or Dawson. What a joke. If this happens I am going to lose what little respect I have left for the sport of boxing.
Warren and Clev need to stop being pussies and fight real fighters. Not glorified punching bags.

I think the fighter makes the belt rather than the other way around these days.

For example Chavez jr is the WBC "world" champ but everybody in boxing knows that he is avoiding Martinez and the WBC are playing along with it.

To say Robinson was not a world champion is unfair.He won the belt on 2 days notice but I know it was vacant and not against a highly world rated fighter.But in his 7 title defences Robinson beat good world rated featherweights like Hodgkinson,McMillan and Mckensie who I know was coming up in weight. Robinso was also unlucky that he was forced to fight Naz who at the time could beat any feather weight in the world.
