The fight is in Sheffield, on phone so cant post link. How good is Jones then? Maybe one of you American chaps can enlighten us. Is this a step up for Special K or is he just marking time?

I think its a solid fight. Jones definitely the underdog but the guy can fight. His record looks horrible but most losses came at Jr. Middle. He's is still only 25 & is one of those guys who has learned & improved his craft in the ring. He has been on a pretty good run recently but hasn't fought the top level.
I think Jones will give his all but will come up short against the much more complete Brook
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be
Good fight and deservedly an eliminator. Whilst I expect Brook to win it's certainly not a bad fight like some elsewhere are saying.
Well it makes sense because Brook will be no.1 with the IBF if he wins.
The sooner he gets a "world" title the sooner we get Khan-Brook.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Very good fight. I expect Brook to be too much for him. Carson to his credit, has really improved over the years. His manager/promoter (Bobby Dobbs) posts on another forum and he had this to say on his recent improvement and poor start to his career:
Turned pro too young, was poorly managed, and fought at too high of a weight class. He now has a promoter, a world class trainer and a physical maturity.
Cheers guys, sounds like it could be quite illuminating then.
Carson Jones beat the hell out of Tyrone Brunson and pretty much ended any hopes Brunson had for a career. He is a very solid opponent, haven't seen him in a while but is a guy who can not be judged based on his record. He turned pro with Stacey Goodson I believe. He was at least promoted by him for a time, and that's no good. He was like 19 or 20 when he went and fought a very seasoned Alfonzo Gomez here in Sacramento is a sham of a fight. Should be a good fight, honestly have to watch more of Jones though.
The guy is ranked top ten. Thank god Kels stepping up. If he beats this guy he will have broken into the top tens of the devision. Would like to see him against Malignaggi after this fight. He has a title and would not be an easy fight. And if he beats Malignaggi then I would put Khan, Berto or Ortiz in front of him. Also would not mind him against Devon Alexander.
Finally the hype around Kell Brook gets a proper test, and deservedly a title eliminator. Looking forward to see how Kell does against a higher standard of opponent.
Hope he does prove to be the real deal, or at least long enough to make the fight with Khan.
Brook will win this one within 6 rounds, as for Malinaggi let him have his moment I like Paulie but
if he meets Brook he will take a beating.I see Brook a World champion by the end of the year.![]()

That is vey true
I get the feeling Khan will conveniently duck Kell Brook. He thinks he's on a different planet in terms of skill and star power. Comparing himself to Floyd. I think Brook is too risky for Khan. Especially as the up and comer.
50-50 fight. Jones is an underrated fighter
Nice to see a Hamhead clone take a step up to the plate.
Amir Khan has had one less fight than Kel Brook and has fought plenty of top ten fighters. Kels best name on his resume is Mathew Hatton. Not very impressive so why would Khan want to take on someone with a crap resume. If he beats carson jones and then beats another top ten fighter then I would say he then deserves a Khan, Berto or Ortiz fight.
It gets on my nerves when people fight a bunch of losers and expect to be put against someone who have beaten world class opposition. Makes me think of warren trying to get Cleverly a fight with the winner of Dawson Hopkins. He may have a title but who of note has he fought to give him a shot at the best in the devision.
Then you have Khan who with only 26 fights under his name has fought top ten opposition and people say he is ducking fighters. That is bulls*it. He was only recently avoided by Bradley the best in devision.
He also went over to Petersons home town and put both his belts on the line. There are not alot of top fighters that would have the guts to do that.
I know the guy is an egotistical prick but he is not a coward. You look objectively at other fighters including Kel Brook and tell me what risks they have taken compared to Khan. They all avoid the dangerous fighters for ages just to build up a long unbeaten record.
Jhon Murray is another one. All those fights undefeated against losers and then loses to someone outside of the top ten.
