    Default Next P4P King

So when Manny and Floyd retire who will it be. Martinez will probably be also retired, as will Marquez. Wladamir Klitschko could be still around but he is also 36. Who will it be ? If you post "other" , post your choice and why.

Donaire? NO. First he will have to beat the kingpin at 122 in Toshiaki Nishioka . In which I don't know why that fight is not getting made. Then afterwards he'll have to move up in weight to be consider P4P best. And at 126, he'll have to beat John(although he might be on that retirment list). Then it's the young lion in Gary Russell that will welcome Donaire. That would be a great fight.

Bute? NO. Could never be consider P4P best unless he fights Ward. Not being in the Super 6, makes his chances less. But if Bute run through the Super 6 opponents and Ward, then he could be!!! Thats Abraham, Kessler, Dirrell and upcoming Froch.

Ward and/ot Dawson? Frontrunners! If this fight happens, the winner will be top 5 today.

Gamboa? NO! He had his chance to get in the top 5 but choose to sit out of the fight with Rios. Saying that, frm 126(his last fight) to 140(where he was suppose to fight Rios), it's a lot of fights that if he cleans out those divisions, it would be hard not to put him at #1.

    6. Vernon Paris
    7. Humberto Soto/Lucas Matthysse winner
    8. Orlando Salido
    9. Juan Manuel Lopez
    10. Danny Swift

Jus to name a few possible fights.

Pound 4 Pound is a completely mythical standing, and should not remotely reflect whether a fighter has moved up and beaten A B or C. Quite simply, IMHO, it should be based on the very terminolgy used. POUND 4 POUND. Shrink every fighter to the same weight class, then lets see who everyone thinks is the best, P4P.

I'd say my possibles, using my logic, would be in no particular order:

    Andre Ward
    Youriorkis Gamboa
    Nonito Donaire

Upon immediate reyirement of the 2 current p4p best I think it will be Ward but eventually I see it being Canelo.

Broner and Gamboa have a shout if they actually fight opponents worth a damn. Gamboa has all the talent in the world to become P4P 1 imo

Andre Ward. He is already looking like the next Mayweather.

I will say Andre Ward will be the next p4p king after he beats Dawson, Bute and Dirrell.

Joan Guzman is the current P4P no.1

FLoyd/Pac get his spot when he retires.

By the time Guzman retires for good, he may well have moved all the way up to HW. So we may be able to test this theory empirically.

Guzman has the talent but not the dedication. Wasted fighter.

    I think Ward, then Alvarez.

Although I can't see Floyd retiring for a few more years yet.
