    Anyone know?

Holyfield has 17 kids or more and needs to pay child support.

Whats roys real excuse?..tax? Broke? Loves the buzz of fighting?

What is the real reason this multi-talented, superman skilled reflexes, varied weight divison master is still fighting when he does a great job as a hbo commentator.

    1-he is broke
2-he doesn't do a great job as commentator

It's ego, i think he has looked at what Bernard Hopkins has done in his 40's and thought to himself i can do that too.
Well he couldn't, he was washed up after Tarver 2, having been ruined by dropping 18lbs to go back to 175lb again. His chin was fine, but his legs were not. He might have gotten away with it if he was 25 years old not 35! No, it's ego IMO or just plain stupidity. Hopkins was a totally different fighter to Jones jr, he could tie you up, he was awkward to fight, he held a lot, he was frustrating to watch at times and i think even more frustrating to fight. No one really ever nailed him with a big shot too, so he was able to continue on much longer than expected due to his unique, awkward style. Jones jr was flashy, he relied on both leg and hand speed and evasiveness and when that goes you get nailed and that is exactly what happened. Unfortunately for Roy Jones jr it happened way to often.

It's all he fucking knows. Jones is not broke. And he makes good money with HBO. But he can't get rid of the need to fight

Whatever the reason, he needs to hang his gloves up, before he gets himself hurt.

He's answered that question a couple of times. His answer is that he has a hard head and no one is going to tell him to stop until he's ready. Honest, that's what the man said. I hope he gets into announcing full time because I like a fighters opinion on the situations that arise in the ring. He is not as polished as the others but I have no trouble following what he says. He's good.

Roy Jones Jr was a great fighter and a showman at one time. Now he only tries to be a showman. The guy loves the spotlight. He said he wants to win a criuserweight title. Its not gonna happen. He'll get hurt

Because he don't have any true friends in his camp to tell him to stop. Show him how Meldrick Taylor and Ali ended up. His is telling him what he wants to hear. Not what he needs to hear. SAD!!!

I think he does it because of his ego. He still feels humiliated by being knocked out in the rematch vs Tarver.... I don't know how he plans to fix that in the ring.

The most logical choice would be that Roy must be broke, but that seems unlikely so I don't know.

He did/does have a huge ego as others said so I'm sure that plays a big role in him wanting to fight, sure seemed that way when Lampley talked to him on HBO about the Lebedev fight and Roy went off about feeling like Michael Jackson in Russia and all this stuff.

I do think there is something fishy about Roy going over to Poland to fight that Kostecki character, then Kostecki being arrested and exposed as the leader of an organized crime syndicate...

Perhaps we should rephrase the question to something like whats the real dementia causing roy to fight on?

Ego to the point of neurosis.

As a fan of his for well over 20 years, I cant even watch anymore,

Hes missing the complete set - a cruiser title. And he wants to try and get it, thats why.

And if word is correct, he will finally get that chance in his next fight against Wlodarcyzk. Win or lose, I reckon that'll be the finish for Roy. Unless its close like Holyfield/Valuev, in which case he'll fight on.

LOL, Kostecki supposedly was engaged in running a few brothels back in the day, and pimping is illegal in Poland (unlike the prostitution itself). It took a few years to convict him, in which time he moved up in rankings. He was sentenced well before the fight, but reasonably expected they wouldn't lock him up before the event.

The fishy thing is, Kostecki would probably beat RJJ very convincingly. Instead RJJ won a controversial decision against a guy who has no power and had no time to prepare. And his win will probably get him a fight against cruiser champ - Wlodarczyk - I think that was the ultimate goal of the promotors.

He has the ability to fight smart and if he wins the WBC title then I fully expect him to retire or make an easy defence for money.
After 5 years of retirement I fully expect him to receive his gold medal officially
