    Default Happy July 4th!

Tomorrow is American Independence Day, falling on a Wednesday here in the States, which totally fucks up my business for this week.
My thoughts on this day usually go to our troops, past and present who did their duty to protect the freedom we enjoy, thanks to those men and women, i'll toast you with a brew or 2 tomorrow!

    Cheers

A Jubilee thread runs on but us yanks are batting a "0" Was quite a day. Little talk of Government but more on appreciation for land and citizen. The middle of week feels odd and ruined any three day weekend trip but none the less it was a good celebration with few friends and things that go BOOM in the night. Took day off this AM. Ouch.

We had a fireworks show last night here in the small Texas town (pop 40,000) I live in. I rarely attend these events because I don't care much for crowds, fucking with traffic, et al. (plus i'm lazy)

The military channel was showing a 5 part documentary series last night called "the Revolution" which mainly focused on George Washington and the war with the British. One thing is clear, without the help we got from the French, we may never have gotten our Independence, at least not as soon as we did. If you get a chance, and if you haven't already, you might check out this Documentary, America will always owe a debt of gratitude to the French, and the founders who gave us the freedom we enjoy to this day.

    cheers Spicoli

It was a lovely day to celebrate a great nation

John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail that Independence Day "will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more"

I'm glad it is still celebrated in such a manner

Hope you all had a good time. You should never have rebelled against us. You could have been our Canada.

Britain's biggest mistake was levying all those bloody taxes on the colonies, Americans hate to pay taxes! Taxation without representation is tyranny!
The American Revolution was inevitable, American's wanted their Independence (and rightfully so) and British rule was simply out of the question. American Independence would have taken far longer if the colonies hadn't been allied with France, who was at war with England during the American Revolution.

    cheers mate
