Default Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tony Thompson Saturday afternoon on Epix

An afternoon fight here in the States, and a Saturday evening fight in the UK, so this is one us Saddoites can watch together.

    July 7th
At Berne, Switzerland (Epix and EpixHD.com): Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tony Thompson, rematch, 12 rounds, for Klitschko's Ring/IBF/WBO/WBA heavyweight title.

I figure Tony "the Tiger" has a snowballs chance in hell of winning the rematch, the only question in my mind is when Wlady will either stop him or knock him out. I'll say about the 7th or 8th round.

Wlad weighed in at a career high 249 and Thompson came in at a respectable 244.7 the lightest he's been in 5 years (so says boxingscene)

One would assume with that extra weight Wlad will come in and do his best to out muscle Thompson. Some statistics, every time Wladimir has been a smidge over 244 he has won and won by stoppage: Mormeck 244 & 3/4 (KO 4); Sam Peter II 247 (KO 10); Chambers 244 & 3/4 (KO 12); Rahman 244 & 3/4 (TKO 7); and Austin 246 & 1/2 (KO 2). Also for the first fight Wladimir was outweighed on the scales by Tony Thompson 241 to 247 & 1/2 and Wladimir was still able to out hustle and out work the larger Thompson, stopping him in the 11th. In Rematches Wladimir has always won and always won by stoppage: Byrd II 7, Brewster II 6, Sam Peter II 10.

As always I'll be hoping for an aggressive Wladimir as I believe Thompson can't hang with Wlad's pace or power. Thompson likes to utilize his solid defense, size, and long jab, Wladimir will look to make Thompson move, give up angles, and make Thompson pay for any slip ups.

A Wlad fight in Switzerland. Doesn't anyone else find that ironic

Alright, alright, I like Wlad. He should be more assertive and repeat the ko but earlier. Tony has a -shot- but I think he too easily excepts his role and sits on the outside getting measured repeatedly.

I don't really get why Thompson is getting a rematch unless he's a mandatory, he was knocked out in the 1st fight, and will get knocked out quicker in the rematch.
Having said that, I like watching Wlady, I can already hear Manny Steward somewhere around the 5th round saying: "Quit playing with this muther-fucker and knock him out, this is what fans want to see."

The Swiss must be big boxing fans, haha, I figure they payed Wlad the most of any of the other venues.
This fight will start somewhere around 5:00 PM ET Saturday afternoon, don't go to the refrigerator.

    cheers bro

Tony just looks so slow in comparrison to Wlad.

    He even falls slowly.

I can't imagine what Tony could have improved on since their last fight, so doubtful there will be much new to see here.

2 wins over byrd, 2 wins over peter, 2 wins over thompson (touch wood) and a win over his contemporaries (and rival champions) ibragimov and chagaev equals a very respectable resume indeed!

    47 seconds into the video........why?

Why does someone punch a guy 4,5 times in the head then grab him?

I just remember Thompson being David Haye like in that fight. Not ever really trying to win.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

This is on Box Nation surprisingly, so will watch it, hope it does not clash with the Fury fight too.
