"What do you do when you're lost in the bush. Here's what we did." - Bob Anderson, NFB.
Ahah hah, y'mean here's what Angus Baptiste did! Literally all of it, while you other sorry @$$es tagged along doing nothing and knowing nothing. And then not even listing Angus' name in the credits at the end...

    Very good short documentary though.
1954 somewhere in the wilderness in Quebec:

    Innu Inini O'Ojiton Tciman...

The Innu (formerly called Montagnais) at the north side of the Gulf of St.Lawrence make their canoes with quite a few construction differences from the Anishinabe, Atikamekw, Wabanaki, Maliseet.
Different materials because of their location, and different procedures, but an excellent canoe is still the result.

Anishinabe. Kitay Iah. Regis onagadjiton e-anokich, e-kigosikech, ashidj e-mitigokech. Mino Pimadiziwin!

Anishinabe. Aged one. Regis is a great hunter, fisherman, and woodsmen. The Good Life!

This is where I grew up, where I'm from. Haven't lived there for a long time though, but Kipawa Lake will always be my home.
I visited the old man in the video about a week ago at the hospital. He was born in 1917 in the Fall at Ostoboning Lake. For some perspective, 2 years later in 1919, Dempsey defeated Willard for the Heavyweight Title.

Man's 95 years old now, he was 90 in the clip. One of our tribal Elders...
