Thread: Chavez spotted looking very overweight

They've been saying his Vera fight keeps getting pushed back because he has stayed clear of the gym. Judging by this photo taken at the Omar Chavez fight, I'd say that may be accurate.

Yup, his father looks pretty pissed off at him as usual. I bet HBO is pissed as well. Did is father have plastic surgery or is that what happens after a lifetime of boxing. He looks like a Mexican Mickey Rourke.

Jesus he looks like he's well north of 200lbs

He should retire if he does not have the heart for it any more as he certainly does not have the dedication to stay in shape.

He literally looks like a dejected baby fat riddled 15 yr old who was just scolded.

I remember seeing his dad at the Forum in LA a few weeks before the Whitaker fight looking pretty well lit.

Man the harpoons.

I'll give him a break he's probably in Mexico smoking everyday, I'm more upset he took a prime date and might not even fight.

It was the Lucas-Garcia date it's a week before Mayweather, Golden Boy is going to put on a smaller show in Texas, Chavez Jr is a huge star he's expected to sale out an arena vs Vera.

He looks no worse off than the average westerner, but is clearly between fights. A lot of fighters have looked like that and worse. Hatton and Toney spring readily to mind. Even someone like Calzaghe would gain a lot of weight. Having said that, he is supposed to be an athlete. It isn't a particularly shocking image though. If it was an image of Mayweather I would be shocked, but not Chavez Jnr whose habits are known.

He's got to be 250 at least.

I suppose that accounts with this comment,

I'd become the biggest Chavez Jr. fan if he ends this GGG hype.

Won't happen, he won't put down the burritos and marijuana long enough. If they did happen to meet GGG would have actually trained. GGG can just hit him in the gut and step aside as taco bell and license plates fly out of Chavez.

At 164 or 168 it's closer than most people admit, I'm sure people will even claim GGG has been better.
