I dont know about in the UK, but out here in LA in the ghettos in particular, alot of coin laundries are a gold mind. You basically just sit back and collect the money ..
What do you think of opening a coin laundry on the side?

Good money, if you maintain your equipment. Not only does a broke down washing machine or dryer cost you money, it inspires your customers to vandalize your stuff. Which costs you more money. My friend, and barber, up here owns one and it is a gold mine.
Same thing with those self-serve car washes. When I looked into those ten years ago, they cost about 350,000 to build, plus the land, and the 'poorest' one I could find was making something like $11,000/month. That was in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.
There are not a lot of these about in the uk but the ones that I know have been going for years.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Oh man the bad ol days. It really runs the board in terms of location here. Many have switched from coin to debit card style machines. There is one downtown with a full cafe and a damn auto texting feature. Full service wash, dry and fold. A friend goes to one where the have a dog washing service joined to itNo more running back every thirty minutes finding your shit in a wet pile on the table
It could turn a nice profit if invested in and run correctly I'm sure.
Well, you need to wash your money somewhere.
